Angiosarcoma, metastatic to the mandible and maxilla.

A case of metastatic angiosarcoma, which was diagnosed from a biopsy of the presenting oral lesions, is reported and discussed. The case illustrates the aggressive nature of the tumour with its widespread metastasis and its brief course to fatality.

Congenital granular-cell myoblastoma.

The clinical and pathologic features of congenital granular-cell myoblastoma in five infant girls are reported. One lesion, treated expectantly, progressively decreased in size and after 3 yr and 9 mo could not be detected, while two lesions which were imcompletely excised did not recur. It is suggested that congenital granular-cell myoblastoma is caused by an intrauterine stimulus, and that this stimulus may possible be production of estrogen by the fetus. Congential granular-cell myoblastoma should be treated expectantly or by limited excision, and has an excellent prognosis.

Role of the general dentist in maxillofacial prosthetics.

Care of oral cancer patients requires the opinions and coordinated efforts of various consultants or therapists functioning as a multidisciplinary team to treat individual patients' physical, social, and economic problems. The modern medical concept of total treatment of the patient must include dentistry. Every dentist with interest and training in the basic principles of maxillofacial prosthetics can offer invaluable assistance in the treatment of maxillofacial patients.
