[Diffuse thymus hyperplasia following chemotherapy for nodular sclerosing Hodgkin lymphoma].

A persistent or new mass in the anterior mediastinum after chemotherapy for mediastinal lymphoma poses a major differential diagnostic problem. Misinterpretation as a persistent or recurrent tumor may lead to additional unnecessary and potentially harmful therapy. Benign mediastinal tumors, albeit very rare, need confirmation by biopsy since they cannot be distinguished by radiological methods from persistence or relapse of lymphoma. We present a case report of a patient with diffuse thymic hyperplasia following successful chemotherapy for nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's disease, with a review of the literature.

[Vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus of children with thymus hyperplasia syndrome].

Inhibition of cellular and humoral immunity was established in children with grade I thymus enlargement syndrome (TES). The most pronounced changes were recorded in children aged 1-5 years. Vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus performed before the diagnosis of the TES was made were followed by satisfactory output of anatoxins, indicating the prospectiveness of the vaccination of the given children's group with DPT vaccine and DT- and DT-M-anatoxin.

[The pathogenesis of congenital thymus hyperplasia in children with immune defects].

Complex clinical and morphological studies were conducted into conditions of the thymus as well as of the lymphatic and neuro-endocrine systems in stillbirths and children up to five years of age. Thymic hormones in blood and thymic tissue were determined, as well. CTH, in most of these cases, was found to reflect dysfunction of the hypothalamic-hypophyseal system which eventually resulted in development of polyglandular endocrinopathy and congenital immune deficiency, primarily in the T-system. CTH has proved quite often to be associated with congenital malformations.
