[Influence of ethinyl estradiol sulfonate on the decreased urinary bladder tonus in the menopause].

In 40 women with hypotonic urinary bladder the influence of 17alpha-Athinyl-3-isopropyl-sulfonyloxy-Ostradiol (Athinylöstradiol) (3 X 15 mug/die without weekend) was examined concerning the intravesical pressure; The cystotonometry has been done just before as well in intervalls of 2 months during half year's period of treatment. The authors used the fill-up-cystotonometry of Hartl. The intra-vesical pressure rose significantly by the influence of Athinylöstradiolsulfonat after 2 months treatment already. In comparison to the hypotonic value before treatment there was an average normotonic urinary bladder after application of Athinylöstradiolsulfonat past 4 and 6 months. Incidence on clinical relevance of these results.

A comparison of the effects of ethinyl estradiol and estradiol valerate on serum and lipoprotein lipids.

Serum lipids and lipoproteins were assessed after treatment with 2 mg of oestradiol valerate (E2V) and 10 micrograms of ethinyl oestreadiol (EE) in a group of 24 oophorectomised women in a study with an open cross-over design. E2V in this oral dose was quite inert in its effect on lipoprotein lipids. Ten micrograms of EE is a dose which in most women is sufficient to alleviate post-menopausal vasomotor symptoms. However, this low dose of EE increased serum triglycerides as a result of increased levels in the ultracentrifugally isolated lipoprotein fractions. Increased levels of serum and lipoprotein triglycerides are considered cardiovascular risk factors in women.

[Changes of the endometrium during oral hormonal contraception with ethinyl estradiol sulfonate and norethisterone acetate or d-noregestrel].

48 fertile women took in three weeks 1 mg ethinylestradiolsulfonate weekly and in the 4th week 10 mg norethisterone acetate, respectively d-norgestrel in different dosages (0,5 mgs, 1,0 mgs, 1,5 mgs or 3,0 mgs). On this 48 women 69 abrasiones were made between the first and 37th treatment cycles in order to estimate the endometrium. Ethinylestradiolsulfonate caused for the most part a proliferation of endometrium, which reached to a glandulare cystic hyperplastic endometrium. We did not observe a reduction of the endometrial respond to this depot-estrogen in dependence on the time of taking. Norethisterone acetate and d-norgestrel effected on a different proliferated endometrium a secretory transfer mation always.

Use of ethinyl estradiol to reverse the antiestrogenic effects of clomiphene citrate in patients undergoing intrauterine insemination: a comparative, randomized study.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effectiveness of clomiphene citrate used alone and in combination with ethinyl E2 for the induction of ovulation in patients undergoing IUI. DESIGN: Randomized, double-blind study. SETTING: Four infertility treatment centers. PATIENT(S): Women aged 25-35 years with infertility of at least 2 years' duration and oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea associated with a positive menstrual response to an IM progesterone challenge. INTERVENTION(S): A total of 64 patients were randomized to treatment with CC (100 mg daily for 5 days) or CC (100 mg daily for 5 days) plus ethinyl E2 (0.05 mg daily for 5 days). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): The uterine artery pulsatility index, number of preovulatory follicles, endometrial thickness, and pregnancy rate. RESULT(S): Both treatment regimens increased FSH, LH, and 17beta-E2 levels, with no statistically significant differences. There was a statistically significant difference in endometrial thickness between the two treatment groups. No statistically significant differences were noted in pulsatility index values or in the number of preovulatory follicles. CONCLUSION(S): Ethinyl E2 can reverse the deleterious effects of CC on endometrial thickness, which may contribute to higher pregnancy rates.
