Variations of nerves located in deep gluteal region.

The relation of the nerves with the piriformis muscle in the deep gluteal region examined in 50 buttock from 18 male and 7 male newborn cadavers. The nerves were found in usual position in 74% of sides, while one or more nerves perforated the piriformis in 16% and, unusual location of the nerves with intact piriformis was in 10% of sides. Abnormal located nerves are utilised in view of whether originating from dorsal or ventral part of the sacral plexus.

[Pathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy of nerve lesions following combined (surgical-radiotherapy) cancer therapy].

Classical cancer therapy (surgical and/or radiotherapeutic measures) is not uncommonly subject to late complications which frequently confront the patient and therapist with problems which are difficult to resolve. Typical examples of such late complications are damage to the nerve plexuses which are usually associated with pain, functional deficits and pareses which can hardly be influenced. The topography of these two nerve plexuses as well as the pathogenesis, clinical symptoms and therapy of plexus lesions is reported with reference to two cases: plexus lesion after combined therapy a) of a malignant testicular tumor and b) of a breast cancer.

Brachial Plexus↗

Electrodiagnosis of plexopathies.

The pathophysiologic processes underlying plexus lesions and their recognition by electromyographic examination are detailed in this article. The nerve conduction studies most helpful for localization of plexopathies are discussed, and the electromyographic findings of the most commonly encountered plexopathies are described.

[Early complex treatment of fractures of leg bones and peripheral nerve injuries].

A retrospective analysis of results of treatment of 104 patients with fractures of long tubular bones associated with injuries of peripheral nerves has shown complex therapy to be necessary. Main components of this treatment were biogenic stimulators, vitamin B12, spasmolytic and dehydration drugs in combination with electrophoresis with potassium iodide and thermal procedures. Rapid disturbance of conductivity of nerve trunks after trauma should be followed by revision of the given segment of the extremity in order to remove hematoma and make reposition of displaced fragments of the bone, which can provide recovery of the disturbed function of the nerve.
