[The determination of capillary blood glucose using the automatic clinical analyzer (aca) Dupont (author's transl)].

The determination of capillary blood glucose after deproteinization using the aca is described. The method, which uses the hexokinase/glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase reaction, is compared with the glucose dehydrogenase method. The comparison shows that glucose values measured in capillary blood are essentially the same in both methods. The requirements for quality control are fulfilled. The method is not influenced by hemolysis, bilirubinemia, and hypertriglyceridemia.

[Comparative quantitative-cytochemical and ultrastructura-morphometric studies for the characterization of the rat heart in experimental myocardial infarct].

Some oxidative enzymes of undamaged sites of the left ventricle were examined with the aid of ultrastructural morphometric and quantified cytochemical methods 1, 2, 7 and 14 days after the ligature of the descending branch of the left coronary artery. A comparison of the ultrastrastructural morphometric data with the densitometric data showed that increases in the activities of some oxidative enzymes are accompanied by enlargements of the mitochondria.

[Histoenzymological characteristics of the adrenal cortical reaction in variants of experimental pancreatitis].

In the early stages of experiments there was a structural-metabolic reconstruction in the adrenal cortex, manifest by changes in interzonal relations and dissociation of the activity of enzymes responsible for energy supply and synthesis of steroid hormones. Analogous changes were also seen later on. However, in the early stages that process was a response to the pancreas injury, whereas in the later period it preceded the emergence of repeated lesions in the gland. In animals with experimental pancreatitis, administration of metapyrone caused an activation of NAD-diaphorase in the glomerular and reticular zones and concurrent potentiation of the activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in all 3 zones of the adrenal cortex.

3-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenases↗

Steroid dehydrogenases in the kidney of musk shrew, Crocidura caerulea: a histochemical study.

The presence of NADH diaphorase, G-6-PDH, ICDH, delta5-3beta-HSDH, 17beta-HSDH and 11beta-HSDH enzyme activity has been histochemically demonstrated in the renal and the collecting tubules of the kidney of the musk shrew, Crocidura caerulea, a primitive mammal. It is inferred that the kidney is capable of converting delta5-3beta, 17beta- and 11beta-hydroxysteroids to ketosteroids, presumably, during steroid excretion.
