Jaundice developed in two patients following dental operations under general anaesthesia. Gilbert's Syndrome was established as the diagnosis. Caloric deprivation at the time of surgery resulted in the increased plasma concentration of unconjugated bilirubin. The pathogenesis of this not uncommon disorder and the mechanism of fasting hyperbilirubinaemia is discussed.

Restorative treatments for canines were discussed to correct three clinical abnormalities: (1) fully erupted permanent canine in the lateral incisor position, (2) missing permanent canines, and (3) partially exposed canines in normal arch position. The primary concerns are the development of esthetics, anterior guidance, and adequate support for fixed restorations.
A study of panoramic radiographs made on 114 edentulous patients was described. Six radiographic entities were identified: root fragments, retained teeth, radiolucencies, radiopacities, foreign bodies, and mental foramina at or near the crest of the residual ridge. The percent of positive findings in this study and those of previous studies support the fact that one of three edentulous patients has a potentially complicating condition within the denture base foundation. These investigations stress the necessity of radiographic examination of all edentulous patients prior to treatment with complete dentures. The high incidence of positive findings suggests not only the need for radiographic examinations of all patients, but also the frequency with which the dentist is faced with the necessity of modifying the treatment plan.

The affected teeth in this case of odontodysplasia exhibited abnormal hypoplastic enamel, abnormal dentin containing extensive interglobular regions and completely lacking a peritubular matrix, and an abnormal irregular tissue consisting of highly calcified and partially fused granules located within the dentin of the tooth tips. Electron micrographs of the irregular tissue showed that the granules consisted of crystallites densely and radically packed in a noncollagenous amorphous matrix. Granules were surrounded by a slightly calcified, irregularly arranged, collagenous matrix. The irregular tissue formed in the pulp of the tooth tip befofe and independently of the dentin. It was at least partially formed by pulpal calcification. Abnormal dentin matrix was formed by odontoblasts which were less differentiated than normal. Odontodysplastic teeth showed abnormal differentiation of odontoblasts and ameloblasts resulting in defective enamel and dentin and, in extreme cases, in extensive pulpal calcification.
