The effect of chloroquine on plasma albumin, bilirubin, amylase, alkaline phosphatase and blood urea in man.

Five healthy male volunteers participated in this study, after informed consent, to determine the effect of chloroquine administration on plasma albumin, bilirubin, amylase, alkaline phosphatase and blood urea. Each subject took 600 mg of chloroquine base (i.e. four tablets containing a 150-mg base per tablet) and blood samples were obtained over a 7-day period. The plasma samples were assayed for albumin, bilirubin, amylase, alkaline phosphatase and blood urea. Results indicate that at the dose used chloroquine administration does not produce any significant change in the plasma levels of albumin and bilirubin. However, serum amylase and urea were decreased while alkaline phosphatase was increased by the chloroquine treatment. These changes are of no clinical significance as the new values are within the normal ranges.

[Alteration in activities of NAD-glycohydrolase, acid and alkaline phosphatases in blood cells tuberculosis].

Activities of NAD-glyconydrolase from erythrocytes, alkaline and acid phosphatases from neutrophiles and acid phosphatase from lymphocytes were studied in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis as well as in experimental animals. Distinct alterations in the activity of the enzymes studied were observed in blood cells of guinea pigs inoculated with tuberculosis. In patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis activities of acid and alkaline phosphatases were altered in leukocytes and the activity of NAD-glycohydrolase--in erythrocytes. Inactive forms of tuberculosis were accompanied by a slight alterations in the alkaline phosphatase activity, activities of acid phosphatase and NAD-glycohydrolase were unaltered.

[Effect of low intensity pulse-modulated electromagnetic radiation on activity of alkaline phosphatase in blood serum].

The change in alkaline phosphotase activity in vitro with frequencies modulation at low intensity of pulse-modulated electromagnetic radiation was experimentally shown (EMR, 2375 MHz, intensity: 0.8, 8.0; 40.0 microW/cm2; range modulation: 30-310 Hz; time of interaction: 1-3 min). Revealed effects could be regarded as an evidence of informative character of interaction of modulated EMR.
