[Problems in the measurement of internal migration].

"The paper analyzes some problems related to the census measurement of internal migration according to the three following aspects: The lack of agreement between the proposed objectives and the type of question made; questionnaire design errors and enumeration errors; and inadequate data elaboration." The geographic focus is on Latin America. Problems concerning data on place of birth or place of previous residence and how these can affect the calculation of migration trends are considered. Economic analysis of population growth in the Islamic world with special reference to Egypt.

Population growth in predominantly Islamic countries is explored, with a focus on Egypt. The author finds that "if its current rate of increase continues...Egypt's population will increase by an average of one and a half million a year requiring food, housing, education, health services, and other needs." The case is made for the immediate implementation of an effective family planning program.

Household scenarios for the European Union.

"This article reports on three Household Scenarios for the countries of the European Union.... These scenarios predict the numbers of persons living alone, living with a partner, living as a child at the parental home and living in another household position, as well as the institutional population. The period covered is 1995-2025. In all three scenarios, the number of persons living alone will grow.... The total number of households increases in all scenarios, whereas the average household size will decline in all scenarios."
