[Treatment of chronic prostatitis complicated by asthenozoospermia using transurethral radio-wave hyperthermia].

The efficacy of transurethral radiowave hyperthermia (TRH) provided by Thermex-2 unit (Dyrex Systems Ltd, Israel) was studied in combined treatment of patients with chronic prostatitis complicated by asthenozoospermia (patent of RF N 2111773). The treatment reduced intensity of bacteriospermia, improved functional activity of spermatozoa as a result of attenuation of the opportunistic microflora. Mechanisms of action of TRH in therapy of chronic prostatitis are discussed.

[Endoscopic radio wave hemostasis in combined treatment of gastroduodenal ulcers complicated by bleeding].

Radiowave hemostasis was used for endoscopic stopping of bleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers in 96 patients. Primary single radiowave hemostasis permitted to achieve stable effect in 80 (83.3%) patients. After repeated radiowave hemostasis bleeding was completely stopped in 14 (14.6%) patients, 2 (2.1%) patients of this group underwent urgent surgery. On day 10 after radiowave hemostasis 95% of mucosal defects epithialized.

[The hygienic protective area of the Kaliakra Medium-Wave Radio Station].

A polemics on the ecological expedience of the transmitting station "Kaliakra", which is in the process of building, was held. The two opposing sides in the diaput are OOD "Bulgarian Posts and Power-line Communication" and the community of village Balgarevo, district of Varna. The ecological aspect of the project is very well known in the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Public Health, as well as in the National Center of Hygiene, Medical Ecology and Nutrition. The latter has given an expert attitude for the hazardous zones around the site. As a result of this polemics is the delay of the building, i.e. blocking investments and missed opportunities, because of not realized exploitation. Stating the above we would like to expand the competent forum of the engaged in the problem. For this purpose we are ready to discuss with the participants in the Conference the methods and results of the calculations, as well as the normative basis, which were used in determining the hazardous zone. The control calculations point out, that the level of the electromagnetic exposure of the population in the district will be lower than the allowable values, which are given both in the Bulgarian State Standards and the foreign standard documents for hygiene control of nonionizing radiation.

High-frequency radio wave electrosection of full-thickness eyelid tissues.

The Ellman Surgitron, commonly used in dermatology practice, is an electrosurgical instrument with a high-frequency waveform that is modified by filtering and undamping the current so that an almost pure cut is possible, yet with a small amount of coagulation. This device was used in six patients undergoing full-thickness eyelid resection (unilateral in three and bilateral in three) for involutional entropion or ectropion. Nine lid margins were cut with scissors, and nine with the electrosurgical instrument. The latter was found to cause minimal tissue damage and to modify the superficial epithelial cell layer very slightly, without causing it to slough. The tissue was cut cleanly, with less bleeding than occurred with scissors incision.

[Treatment results in chronic bacterial prostatitis using radio waves].

We report the results of examination, treatment and follow-up of 30 patients aged 25-40 years with chronic bacterial prostatitis. We used the method of local transurethral hyperthermia of the prostate ("Thermex" unit). This method proved effective as the period of remission in comparison with standard conservative therapy increased 2-3-fold. This treatment is indicated in patients with longstanding inflammatory process and in patients suffering from prostatitis with secondary disorders of potency.
