A DNA-membrane complex model (DMC) is presented, in which specific sites of DNA, low molecular weight RNA, and a system of two lipid (or lipoprotein) membranes take part, Morphological identity of these complexes and nuclear pores for eucaryotes and "Bayer's junctions" for procaryotes is suggested. The forces of membrane surface tension in DMC formation are analysed, and the diameter of nuclear pores is calculated.

Mathematical models of capillary blood flow are described consisting of axisymmetric particles in cylindrical tubes. The blood cells are modelled by elastic sphere, rigid red blood cells and normal flexible red blood cells. The results show that the deformability of red blood cells is important in reducing the apparent viscosity in capillary blood flow.

A model of thermoregulation is proposed, based on additive features found both in the processing of thermal information and in the interaction between thermoregulation and other vegetative functions. According to this model, it may be expected that, if temperature changes are induced in some thermal inputs, other thermal inputs will show specular temperature changes. The model has been experimentally tested.
A comparison of six studies on the development of specific stimulation recognition in parental relationships reveals some common points. In all cases, the recognition of complex specific stimulations is obtained by practice (in contact with the environment) in dealing with a simple stimulation which does not seem to be learned. The configuration of the final complex specific stimulation is associated with the simple, initial stimulation, both of them belonging to the same sensory register. The efficiency of the new stimulation makes the first one obsolete. From these convergences we have constructed a working model to determine the profile of individual sensitivity in time: the simple, initial stimulation would complement a rigid sensitivity site, situated within a flexible, pliable sensitivity, which would be modeled by and rigidified at the contact of the complex stimulations associated with the efficient simple stimulation. In the initiation of a same behavior, a time relation is thus established between the basic, simple specific stimulation and the final complex stimulation. The new rigid sensitivity of the individual could eventually serve as a starting point for another sensitivity, corresponding to a still more complex stimulation.

Finite-state automata called transducers, which have both input and output, can be used to model simple mechanisms of biological mutation. We present a methodology whereby numerically-weighted versions of such specifications can be mechanically adapted to create string edit machines that are essentially equivalent to recurrence relations of the sort that characterize dynamic programming alignment algorithms. Based on this, we have developed a visual programming system for designing new alignment algorithms in a rapid-prototyping fashion.
