Adolescent disease should not be considered as something similar to infantile pathology or adult sicknesses. Special consideration must be given to the adolescent as such, taking into account the characteristics of adolescents as described in the 'Normal Adolescence Syndrome'. Symptom formation follows the same pattern as described elsewhere for children, adolescents and adults, but with very special differences in this stage of human development. Hysterical, hypochondriacal and psychotic types of psychosomatic illnesses can be described with the qualification of 'adolescent type'. Hebiatric medicine must be the specialized approach to illnesses in this developmental stage and must define its study object: the adolescent. Interviewing, clinical examination, diagnosis treatment and prognosis are of a specialized kind and the psychosomatic approach is also different. There are some more typical hebiatric pathologies that must be considered properly.

RESULTS: Patients with UD having no HP in gastric mucosa showed clinical peculiarities related to changes in psychological and vegetative status. CONCLUSION: The addition of psychopharmacological drugs to conventional antiulcer therapy promoted induction of clinicoendoscopic remission of UD within optimal time and improved quality of life in patients without HP infection in the stomach.

Chronic illness is the main problem in modern medicine. The manner in which a person psychologically faces his chronic illnesses and attempts to deal with them represents his individual coping process. Psychosocial disturbances are more frequently present in the chronically ill than in the physically healthy and require application of step-wise psychotherapeutic treatment measures. Different problems and disturbances demand distinct therapeutic approaches. The therapeutic measures range from a comprehensive psychosomatic extensive treatment by a physician to professional psychotherapy.
