[Study on the determination method of Mo in the internal organs of body by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry].

A new method for the determination of Mo in the heart by tantalum-lining graphite tube was developed. The tantalum-lining graphite tube can entirely eliminate effects of stable carbide formed. The sensitivity was enhanced to compare with the conventional graphite tube. At the same time, it also climinates memory effect completely and reduces the interferences of coexistent elements such as Fe, Na, K etc. The method is simple, accurate and rapid.

[Determination of nine trace elements in Dioscorea opposita thumb by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry].

The contents of the potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, copper, zinc, iron, manganese, strontium and nickel in Dioscorea opposita thumb were determined. The relative standard deviation(RSD) of the first eight contents is 0.43%, 1.10%, 4.41%, 0.68%, 1.44%, 1.88%, 1.29% and 0.03% respectively, and the percentage recovery is 90.0%-111.0%. The method is convenient and accurate. It can be used to determine the trace elements simultaneousy in Dioscorea opposita thumb.

Total arsenic in urine: palladium-persulfate vs nickel as a matrix modifier for graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry.

We evaluated the effectiveness of nickel and palladium with or without added potassium persulfate as matrix modifiers for the determination of total arsenic in urine. Complete recovery of pure aqueous solutions of As(III), As(V), cacodylic acid (DMA), monomethylarsinic acid (MMA), and o-arsanilic acid was attained by using both nickel and palladium modifiers. Combined arsenobetaine and arsenocholine (so-called fish arsenic), extracted from a certified control material of dogfish muscle (DORM-1), were completely recovered with Pd-S2O8 matrix modification, but not with nickel. Excellent agreement with target values for arsenic in urines from the Centre de Toxicologie du Quebec, supplied by the Interlaboratory Comparison Program, was attained irrespective of the arsenic source when we used Pd-S2O8 as the matrix modifier.

[A method of atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) for analysis of cadmium and lead levels in the plant material].

The conditions were evolved and checked for simultaneous determination of cadmium and lead levels in plant material using the flame technique of ASA. For decomposition of the organic substances in plant material wet mineralization was used with a mixture of nitric acid, perchloric acid and sulpuric acid in volume proportions 6:2:0.25. The levels of cadmium and lead were determined in the organic phase after extraction with n-butyl acetate of the previously produced complexes with NaDDTK. The obtained limits of cadmium and lead detectability were 0.002 and 0.02 mg/kg respectively. The recovery rate of the method ranged from 96 to 98%, while the variability index was from 2.6 to 10.2%. The correctness of the evolved analytical procedure was confirmed by determination of the content of both elements in the NBS-SRM 1571 standard (orchard leaves) and by participation in the international interlaboratory investigation of the Polish standard (dried cabbage leaves).

Method comparison for calcium determination by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry in the presence of phosphate.

We investigated the suppressive effects of phosphate on calcium determinations with lanthanum-air/acetylene and potassium-nitrous oxide/acetylene methods, and we evaluated the ability of these methods to meet the suggested analytical goals for urine samples. The 20 g/L La-air/acetylene method was the most nearly accurate for predicting the actual calcium concentrations (t-test value = -0.042), followed by the 2 g/L K-nitrous oxide/acetylene method (t-test value = 0.450), 10 g/L La-air/acetylene (t-test value = -0.733), and finally 5 g/L La-air/acetylene (t-test value = -2.446). The dilution used significantly influences the apparent calcium concentration measured with the La-air/acetylene methods.

[Determination of micro-quantities of serum lithium by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Significance and applications].

The dilution of serum and the ionic components having an usual effect upon the lithium assay is examined about their influences in the determination of lithium microquantities. These are discussed according to the technique selected as well as the normal ionic variations that may be come across in serums. The method was applied to determination of serum lithium rate in a group of old subjects. The got lithium distribution is unsymmetrical at lower rates and no influence of age or sex was obvious.
