Advances in antimitotic treatments have improved the prognosis of cancer in young subjects. The resulting increase in life expectancy raises the question of the subject's future fertility, a question that should be posed before beginning any anticancer therapy which could lead to a gonadal failure. If oocyte donation remains the alternative indication proposed for these patients desiring a child, it is important to assess the tissue alterations in the uterus, to verify its vascularization under suitable treatment and appreciate the other alternative directions.

The authors report a case of stomatitis, in a patient receiving antimitotic therapy, which was found to be due to an acute leukosis. They feel that patients on antimitotics who develop stomatitis should have a white cell count to exclude leukosis, which is not a very rare finding today.
INTRODUCTION: Secondary myelodysplasia after antimitotic therapy is a rare complication usually observed with alkylating agents. The condition usually progresses to acute leukaemia with very poor short term prognosis. CASE REPORT: We report the cases of 2 women who developed myelodysplasia 2 and 9 months after treatment associating dacarbazine and fotemustine for visceral metastases of a malignant melanoma. DISCUSSION: The frequency of these rare complications is probably underestimated because of the rapid unfavourable outcome of metastatic malignant melanoma. We were unable to determine whether dacarbazine, fotemustine or their combination was incriminated in this complication. Risk could be reduced by carefully determining the cumulative doses of these antimitotics.
In a patient with vagoglossopharyngeal neuralgia secondary to an intracranial tumor, accompanied by vasodepressor syncope a short course of intrathecal antimitotic therapy relieved the symptoms altogether without need either for drugs routinely effective against neuralgia or for intracranial resection of the glossopharyngeal nerve and the superior roots of the vagus.
