[Overlay dentures].

Overlay dentures which are accepted as superposition appliances have been presented by three cases in this article. These kind of dentures are dedicated as prosthodontic restorations which are applied to extend maxillary arch horizontally in the cases of maxillary collapse. These restorations also increase the vertical dimension which has been lost and so help to improve the facial contour as well as esthetics of the individual-these dentures classified as removable partial or complete overlay dentures are generally applied in the cases of bilateral or unilateral maxillary collapse which have been caused by trauma or tumor resection.

Overlay dentures. Philosophy and practice. II.

The practical stages in the construction of mandibular overlay dentures, with and without precision attachment anchors, are described and illustrated in detail. The importance of post-insertion maintenance, continuing effective oral hygiene and patient care, as a prerequisite for a successful overlay denture experience, is emphasized.

The role of the overlay denture in the prevention of mandibular ridge atrophy.

The overlay denture concept may be used to postpone and in some cases avoid the atrophied mandibular ridge syndrome. The co-operation of the patient is a vital factor for success and the treatment regimen is divided into a series of self-contained stages to allow the patient to demonstrate his mastery of each before proceeding to the next. Function in the edentate can be enhanced by the use of this type of denture.

The use of natural teeth in overlay dentures.

A method has been described for the construction of tooth-supported dentures where the natural tooth was utilized and the acrylic resin for the denture base processed directly to the prepared cast. Based on the 112 dentures that were made, this technique is economical, provides support and stabilization, and has full patient acceptance.

[Innovative system for overlay denture therapy].

The short blade-implant ist adapted to the more reduced alveolarappendage in profile too. Generally this implant means more safety for the operating dentist. A lately developed intramobile element connected with this implant provides a greater relief of the implanted. A long vertical way of replacement produces more extra safetyreserves for the effective compendation of the appearing chewing forces. The attachment can be combined with nearly all prothetical solutions. This intramobile element can be changed without any problems by the patient himself.
