A method for measurement of frequency, modulation characteristics and timer accuracy of ultrasonic therapy equipment.

A method is described for measuring the ultrasonic frequency, modulation data, and exposure time of ultrasonic therapy equipment be detection and analysis of the ultrasonic radiation rather than direct measurement of the electrical rf signal. The equipment used in performing these measurements consists of a receiving piezoelectric transducer, ana electron counter/timer designed to accept and process the detected ultrasonic signal, and an oscilloscope.

Physiotherapy and the frozen shoulder: a comparative trial of ice and ultrasonic therapy.

In a prospective study ice and ultrasonic applications have been compared in a series of patients with the frozen shoulder syndrome. No significant advantage of one treatment over the other could be demonstrated. It would appear that both of these physiotherapy methods can shorten the painful stage of the condition and, in conjunction with specific exercises, hasten recovery of the range of shoulder movement.

A critical analysis of ultrasonic therapy.

The authors have examined the effect of ultrasonic irradiation on myopy. Fourty-two eyes of 24 patients were treated. In more than 76% of the cases, there was an average decrease of 1.04 D in refraction. When myopy was accompanied by astigmatism, this also decreased or even disappeared.
