[Chemoluminescence of blood and urine in diffuse appendicular peritonitis in children].

The results of the study of hemiluminescence of native blood, plasma and urine in 56 children with diffuse purulent peritonitis demonstrate that changes of light-sum of the luminescence of the investigated media could reflect aggravation of endogenous intoxication connected with development of organic insufficiency. The usage of blood and urine hemiluminescence for definition of the gravity of endogenous intoxication in diffuse forms of appendicular peritonitis in children is suggested.

[Echography in congenital intestinal obstruction in newborn infants].

The authors used echography in order to reveal typical echographic signs of high and low bowel obstruction in 51 newborns. Although the use of echography often fails to establish the real cause of the bowel obstruction, it allows the determination of its level and in general promotes making the proper diagnosis.

[The treatment of appendicular peritonitis complicated by septic shock in childhood].

The article presents an analysis of results of treatment of 39 children from 1 to 14 years of age with diagnosis of appendicular peritonitis complicated by septic shock. It was shown that complex pathogenetic treatment with controlled laparostomy, necessary compulsory or subsidiary artificial pulmonary ventilation before and after operative intervention, associated use of afferent methods allowed to decrease the number of lethal outcomes from 54.5 to 11.1%.

Acute Disease↗

[The metabolic and immunological changes in appendiceal peritonitis in children complicated by multiple organ failure].

An investigation of 56 children with appendicular peritonitis complicated by multiple-organ failure has revealed typical, in the authors' opinion, metabolic and immunological changes such as the regulation of organism to minimization of the energy exchange with catabolism of the functionally important proteins and the formation of multiple-component secondary immunodeficient state. The data obtained facilitate earlier diagnosis of the multiple-organ failure and optimization of the management which resulted in 2 times less lethality among such patients.

[Complication of tumors and cysts of the abdominal cavity in children].

An analysis of results of the surgical treatment of 41 children with complicated tumors and cysts of the abdominal cavity shows that most frequent complications are torsion of the pedicle, testicle cysts and intestinal obstruction. Suppuration and rupture of the cyst are rare. The diagnostics is considerably difficult which is due to great variety of clinical manifestations and to the disease being rare. The present-day diagnostics and operative treatment represent an effective method of prevention of the above complications.

Abdominal Neoplasms↗

[Diaphragmatic hernia in children].

Hernia of the diaphragm in children (226 observations) is characterised by a great variety of symptoms. Clinical manifestations of the hernia allow to divide the course of the disease into acute, subacute and recurrent forms and complications (incarcerations) which helps the doctor to timely diagnose the disease.

Acute Disease↗

[Results of treatment of newborn infants with diaphragmatic hernias].

The article generalizes an experience with the treatment of 91 newborns with diaphragmatic hernias for the period from 1955 to 1985. The diagnostics has improved and greater amount of newborns were admitted to the clinic within the first day after birth. The frequency and character of postoperative complications were analyzed as well as causes of their appearance and effective measures for their prevention and structure of lethality. The tactics of resuscitation both before and after operation has been changed: the artificial ventilation of the lungs was performed without a positive pressure at the end of the expiration with the use of Tubarin and infusion of Dopamine. Lethality was 2 times reduced.
