The paper outlines the design of a Russian Renex-Fluoro small-dose digital fluorograph and its operating principle. The capacities of digital fluorography in the diagnosis of different forms of pulmonary tuberculosis are considered. The data of a comparative statistical analysis of the diagnostic informative value of digital and film fluorography are given.
An analytical expression (mathematical model) of the spectral distribution of braking radiation in the in tungsten anode X-ray tubes has been derived. The discrepancy of the calculated spectra with experimental findings is no more than +/- 6%.
The results obtained by the method outlined in the paper for calculating dosimetric characteristics of a braking radiation spectrum are in rather good agreement with those of experimental studies and may be used for practical calculations instead of expensive and labour-consuming experimental methods for estimating the spectral characteristics of braking spectra.
The paper deals with the theory and practice of digital X-ray diagnosis. The adverse factors of formation of a digital X-ray film are considered. They included geometric and dynamic blurrinesses, blurriness of an image receiver, and the contrast and dynamic range of digital image. Analysis of a great deal of clinical data shows the capacities of digital X-ray study to diagnose different forms of pulmonary tuberculosis and other thoracic diseases.
The present paper deals with the theory and practice of controlling the measuring and deciphering properties of X-ray image. It describes the design and methods for using the original test object intended for an objective assessment of the spatial resolution and contrast sensitivity of X-ray apparatuses.
A scheme of a technological lay-out is offered for the digital-fluorography examination room by the example of the modern "Renex-Fluoro" unit. Actual values of the room area are specified and recommended as standard.

The paper deals with the introduction of computer technologies into X-ray equipment. It gives data on various digital hardware components for digital fluorography, characterizes the digital fluorographs made in Russia. A new approach to designing a digital fluorograph is proposed by changing mechanical scanning via the use of a special fluorographic chamber having a supersensitive matrix photodetector. This approach has been applied in designing a Renex-fluoro apparatus.
