On the basis of the models applied in the "German Risk Study" it is estimated that approximately 50% of the mean individual risk from nuclear power stations implied for the population of the Federal Republic of Germany originate from German plants, whilst the other 50% can be attributed to the facilities situated in other European countries.
Starting from risk analyses previously performed in nuclear engineering is given. The steps, by which conceivable sequences of damage within the plant and in its environment were simulated in the "German Risk Study" are shown. To record a broad spectrum of possible damage sequences, a total of about 600 000 different simulations were performed. The extent of damage was expressed as the number of deaths from acute radiation syndrome (early damage) and from radiation induced cancer (late damage). The results determined are represented as distribution functions of the damage and as expectation values of damage. They are compared with the nature incidence of cancer and with the extent of damage from other technological fields.
Changes in the ultrastructures of lymphatic organs of rats observed from the 2nd to 22nd day following continuous irradiation with gamma rays at a daily dose of 115 mGy (exposition: 12 R/day) are described. The maximum of destructive changes in lymphocytes was observed on the 11th to the 14th day of irradiation. A gradual balance between dystrophic and regenerative processes was achieved on the 18th day. In this connection to correlation could be determined between the ultrastructural changes described and the fluctuations of lymphocyte numbers in the lymphatic organs and peripheral blood during continuous irradiation.
A description is presented of the results of immunohistological reaction to HBAg, using home-prepared sera, in bioptical material routinely processed in the department by standard methods. The results are essentially in agreement with literary data. One conspicuous feature was the substantially reduced quantity of positive elements in comparison with the results of staining with aldehydefuchsine and orceine.

The plasma level of 11-hydroxycorticosteroids was examined twice a day by means of MATTINGLY'S fluorometric method in patients with malignant and other chronic diseases and in control subjects. Higher values in the afternoon or the same as those in the morning were found in each case of malignant disease. This change of physiological diurnal rhythm was not observed in the vast majority of healthy subjects or in patients with non-cancerous diseases.
White female Wistar rats were used in order to study the influence of long-term oral application of 7-chloro-4-(4-diethylamino-1-methylbutylamino) quinoline (chloroquine) in doses of 30, 40 and 80 mg of base/kg upon the suprarenal gland. Histological, histochemical and biochemical findings give evidence of adrenocortical activation induced by chloroquine at all dose levels tested. The differences between the signs of adrenocortical activation as observed after the various doses were only those of quantity and time onset. The results indicate that the stimulation of the suprarenal cortex produced by repeated administration of chloroquine is not solely a manifestation of toxic action of chloroquine.
