[Incidence of Trichomonas vaginalis infection among girls from the Lódź population in the last 25-year period].

19,024 girls (aged: from 0 to 18) attending the Pediatric Gynaecology Outpatient Department and the Center for Treatment of Parasitic and Mycotic Diseases were examined. The diagnosis of infection with T. vaginalis was based on preparations using various methods and cultures on specific media, from vaginal content and urine. It was found that the frequency of T. vaginalis invasions in girls had lessened 2-6 times in different groups from 1960 till 1985 and the higher percent of T. vaginalis in girls over 10 years old had been observed than in younger ones. There exists the statistically significant correlation (P less than less than 0.02) between T. vaginalis invasions in girls and other persons from their environment (families).

[Analysis of the relations between selected symptoms of inflammation of the genital and urinary organs and invasion of Trichomonas vaginalis].

Data concerning 604 girls up 18 year old were analysed. On the basis clinical symptoms and results of culture of various biological materials on selected media--the monofocal Trichomonas infection concerning the most often vulva and vagina, rarely urethra or other regions of urinary organ as well as the multifocal Trichomonas infection, particularly complicated by mycosis were proved. It was found the convergence statistically significant (P less than or equal to 0.5) of the invasion of T. vaginalis with some symptoms of inflammation of genital and urinary organs; the highest values of Pearson-Bravais coefficient was obtained in Trichomonas infection of genital organs and vaginal discharges, pain of vulva and vagina, the picture of colpitis maculosa, but in the multifocal one also with itching and pain in urethra and dysuria. T. vaginalis without symptoms occurred very seldom in the girls.

[Rare cases of prostatitis caused by invasion of Trichomonas vaginalis with Candida albicans].

Three cases of prostatitis caused by the invasion of T. vaginalis and C. albicans which has been found in different biological materials were described. After per rectum examination perineum biopsy of prostata was performed in all patients; in histopathological preparations pointing at the inflammation reaction of that gland the fungi were detected. Also, the same microorganisms were proved in sexual partners of those patients but multifocal invasion of C. albicans--including genital and urinary organs, mouth and alimentary tract--also in members of their family.

[Value of WHO recommendations for the assessment of oral health in patients with diagnosed Trichomonas tenax invasion].

In patients with periodontium lesions infected and not infected with Trichomonas tenax the following indices were analysed: caries index, Russell's index (+periodontal diseases), Greene-Vermillions index (oral hygiene). No statistically significant differences were found between infected and non-infected groups as regards caries and oral hygiene. Russell's index showed considerable differences between the groups of subjects.

[Use of the Fuzzy Set Theory in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory conditions of the genital organs and the urinary system in women].

The paper presents methods of Fuzzy Set Theory which can be a helpful key to medical diagnosis on the basis of symptoms as well as to the differentiating the effectiveness of action of drugs (metronidazole, tinidazole and ornidazole) in trichomoniasis. The relationship between patients and symptoms, symptoms and diagnoses or patients and diagnoses is considered as a fuzzy relation. A max-min composite fuzzy relation is a mathematical apparatus for finding the diagnoses such as: trichomoniasis, mycoses or bacterial infection. The solution of the other problem is based determining an eigen fuzzy set, associated with a given fuzzy relation, which can help to predict the theoretical maximal and minimal levels of recovery.

[Antitrichomonal properties of derivatives of ethers containing amine and halogenarylalkyl groups].

The trichomonacidal activity in vitro of 6 new derivatives of theirs containing amine and halogenaryloalkyl groups in comparison with metronidazole, ornidazole and tinidazole has been examined. For all the examined compounds curves of action were obtained after 30 min, and lethal concentrations for 50% population (CL50) of three strains of T. vaginalis used for experiments were calculated. The trichomonacidal action of the following compounds was specially strong: 2-/1-methylpiperazine++-4-yl/ethyl-4-chlorbenzhydryl ether dihydrochloride and 2-/1-benzylperhydro-1,4-diazepine++-4-yl/ethyl 2,4-dichlorbenzyl ether dihydrochloride. The trichomonacidal action of these compounds was several times stronger than that of metronidazole and tinidazole.

[Evaluation of the effect of a new polyfungin derivative in chronic infection of albino mice with P-32 labeled Candida albicans].

White mice, Balb/c, were infected intraperitoneally with Candida albicans strains: standard ATCC 1023 and 910 strain isolated from vaginal excretions of patient suffering from genital mycosis. One group of animals was given new Polish polyene antibiotic N-methylglucamine salt of N-glucosylpolyfungin (N-MGP). It was possible to follow a course of infection using our own experimental model of candidiasis with 32P-Candida albicans cell suspension by measuring a degree of radioactivity of organs taken from treated and untreated animals. Statistically significant lower radioactivity values (P less than 0.01) were found in organs of animals treated with N-MGP salt for 20 days in daily dose of 20 mg/kg of body weight. Therapeutic efficacy of N-MGP salt was confirmed in separate experiments where mice were infected intraperitoneally with unlabelled Candida albicans cells. Negative results of mycological examinations were found when several organs homogenates of treated mice were tested. Activity of new polifungin derivative in chronic candidiasis of mice was found using two different ways of evaluation of this new preparation.
