[Further research on the use of media with Na-RNA for isolating Shigella].

The isolation of shigellae from the feces of patients with the use of Ploskirev's bactoagar with Na-RNA added at a concentration of 4 mg/ml has facilitated the laboratory diagnosis of dysentery due to the increased resolution of the medium. The isolation of shigellae on the medium with the stimulating agent added occurs 9% more frequently than on the control medium.

[Comparative effectiveness of immunomodulators in the therapy of bronchopulmonary diseases].

One hundred and fifty-one patients with bronchopulmonary diseases were examined and it was shown that they had secondary immune deficiency mainly in the T-cells which could not be recovered with the routine therapeutic agents. The use of hemodez, levamisole or sodium nucleinate in the combined therapy promoted correction of the immune deficiency and increased the treatment efficacy. Sodium nucleinate proved to be the most efficient.

[RNA as a modulator of secondary immunological deficiency and dysnucleotidosis].

Secondary immunological deficiency was identified in patients with chronic pneumonia, rheumatism, peptic ulcer or chronic alcoholism. The routine therapy resulted in aggravation of the immunity defects in the patients with pulmonary affections and chronic alcoholism. The combined therapy with the use of sodium nucleinate promoted elimination of the immunological deficiency, whereas in the patients with peptic ulcer, elimination of the increased content of 17-HKS in the urine and dysnucleotidose.

Biodynamic effects of RNA.

Yeast RNA induces in persons and animals by parenteral or oral administration, non-specific anti-infectious resistance (tachyphylaxis), under specific conditions aggravates the course of bacterial infection, enhances the primary and secondary immunological response to antigens, induces the secondary immunological response, reduces the toxic effects of the vaccines in vivo, increase the immunogenicity and antigenicity of salmonella vaccinal strain, accelerates the reproduction and the growth of microorganisms in media with NaRNA, stimulates endogenous interferon formation and exerts therapeutic influence in the treatment of pigmentary dystrophy of the retina, radiation damage, schizophrenia, sclerosis of brain venae, etc.

[Further research on the detoxifying effect of RNA].

Type A Cl. perfringens toxin caused necrosis in guniea-pigs and killed mice. Sodium nucleinate, administered orally to these animals simultaneously with the injection of the toxin and 2 hours later significantly prevented dermonecrosis in guinea-pigs and death in mice, as well as the development of pathomorphological changes in the liver, the kidneys and the spleen, the fatty degeneration of hepatocytes and disturbances in nucleic acid metabolism in these cells.

[Detoxifying effect of RNA].

The documented facts are presented concerning the detoxifying effect of NaRNA when injected together with adsorbed DPT vaccine, TAB-tetanus vaccine and typhoid vaccine with sextitoxoid. The intraperitoneal and oral administration of the preparation of RNA was shown to protect rodents from the toxic effect of the vaccines. In these experiments the tests were made to determine the following characteristics: LD50 of the vaccine, survival time, the change of body weight, the spleen index, efficiency, food and water consumption. A decrease in the toxicity of the prophylactic preparations was not accompanied by a decrease in vaccinal immunity.

[Increasing the non-specific resistance of animals to pathogenic E. coli with preparations of RNA].

Yeast RNA and sodium nucleinate considerably increased the nonsusceptibility of mice to pathogenic escherichia and typhoid salmonellae. Ineffective single nucleonate doses created an intense resistance in repeated use; prolonged application was not accompanied by the appearance of tolerance to the preparation. The principal mechanism of the induced phenomenon consisted in the intensification of the bacterial elimination and the endotoxin detoxification chiefly realized by the activity of the mobile phagocytes.
