[Effect of Corynebacterium parvum preparation on selected immunologic indicators and clinical results in patients with chronic post-traumatic osteomyelitis].

Nineteen patients with chronic post-traumatic staphylococcal osteitis++ of a mean 5-years-clinical course were given intramuscularly 3.5 mg of Coparvax for two weeks. An increase of IgG concentration in the serum, starting from the 8th week of observation, and a marked increase of the ability of absorbtion and destruction of staphylococci by the neutrophils of the peripheral blood have been found. It has been accompanied by subsidence of clinical symptoms of ostitis in 13 patients and a marked decrease of intensity of the inflammatory process in 4 other patients. No effect has been found in two patients.

[Lung injuries caused by explosion in rabbits. 3. The behavior of the lung after injury].

The behaviour of the pulmonary activity was investigated in 30 rabbits after a blast. The estimation was carried out by the results of volumetric, gasometric, and radio-isotopic researches. The results show a considerable disturbance of the pulmonary activity which leads to respiratory insufficiency in rabbits after a blast of medium strength. The restriction type was dominant in the disturbance of the ventilation. An impairment of the gas diffusion is the consequence and leads to hypoxia and to a compensated respiratory acidosis.

[Incidence of urinary tract diseases among workers in the Masovian Refining and Petrochemical Plants in Płock 1978-1981].

The studies were aimed at estimation of the incidence rate of genito-urinary tract diseases among employees of the Mazovian Refining and Petrochemical Plants in Płock. In 1978-1981, 873 employees were examined, including 244 females and 629 males. Most of them, namely 572 (65%), were employed in those plants for more than 5 years. In 190 persons (21.8%) either history of urologic diseases (41 persons) or current diseases (149 persons) were found. The incidence rate of genito-urinary tract diseases was similar to that observed in general population. The studies are continued.

[Influence of an ergometer load after intravenous lipofundin infusion on the behaviour of blood glucose, lactate, amino acid nitrogen and the free fatty acids (author's transl)].

In males aged from 19 to 21 years the influence of a bicycle ergometer load in the behaviour of blood glucose, lactate, amino acid nitrogen and the free fatty acids was examined. After determination of PWC120 20 subjects were loaded over 10 minutes in accordance with the value determined (group I). A second group (n = 15) was equally loaded after an intravenous infusion of 20-percent lipofundin. The subjects were given 2.5 ml per kg body weight (group II). The ergometer load of 10 minutes took place in the manner described above and was started 5 minutes after the end of the infusion. From the latter group 8 subjects (group III) were once again infused with lipofundin without subsequent physical stress. For determination of the parameters FFS, glucose, lactate and amino acid nitrogen venous blood was extracted at the time 0 minutes, immediately after the end of the lipofundin infusion of 20 minutes, after the end of the physical activity and 15, 30 and 60 minutes after the end of the ergometer load. The FFS rise was highest in group III, while in group II it was lower. During the load test the glucose concentrations rose in group I and were even during the reco very phase higher than in the two other groups. The amino acid nitrogen decrease in group II, but still more in group III. An increase took place in group I. The lactate rose in group II was significantly less than in group I (p less than 0.05). The results suggest a reduced utilization of glucose due to experimental increase of the FFS levels and a higher utilization of other energetic substrates.
