[X-ray diagnosis of submucosal fibromyoma].

Data on hysterographic examination are analysed in 57 women, in whom there are roentgenologic signs for myomatous nodes, localized submucosally. An attempt is made to systematize characteristic changes in this lesion (measures, location, form and outlines). A conclusion is reached that roentgenological examination with the possibility objectively to establish the existence of submucous myomas, on the one hand and to determine their typical morphological peculiarities, on the other, could help to diagnose cases with obscure clinical history.

[Functional research on carbohydrate metabolism in women with climacteric metropathy].

The study was carried out on 61 women with climacteric metropathy at mean age of 48,33 years. Histopathologic endometrial finding of the performed curettage showed predominating anovulatory or organic character of the bleeding. The mean values of oral glucose tolerance test in women of the whole group did not exceed the established reference values. However there was a reduced glucose tolerance as the values of the test were within range zone. This is an important fact in determining a model for hormonal prophylaxis and treatment.

[Single-hormone prophylaxis of uterine hemorrhages in the premenopause].

Single-hormone prophylaxis with gestagen (Primolut nor) was carried out on 62 women with uterine bleedings during the premenopause of climacteric at mean age of 46.8 years. A ten-day scheme with application of 5 mg of gestagen daily from 16 to 25 day of the cycle for a period of 6 months was used. The treatment provided stable clinical characteristic of the successive pseudomenstrual cycles could continue for a considerable time practically till disappearance of pseudo-menstruation and transition of the woman in postmenopause. Primolut nor was a convenient drug also in women under continuous anticoagulant treatment. However it was effective and could not be used for treatment of accompanied climacteric symptoms.

[Problems in the x-ray imaging of adenomyosis (endometriosis interna uteri)].

After a brief review od the nature of disease, its clinical picture, the most frequent roentgenologic images manifested by roentgenologic examination (hysterography), the authors describe their own material. Prospective study was carried out in the course of one year. Twelve women with adenomyosis were discovered and confirmed roentgenologically and histologically (a postoperative preparation). The finding was of accidental character in 9 out of 12 women (75%) and no adenomyosis was taken into consideration. The investigation was performed by conventional method for hysterosalpingography in 10 out of 12 cases. A new technique--subfundic hysterography was used in the remaining two cases, in whom it was contraindicated. The roentgenologic image was characterized by depots located mainly on the fundus, asymmetrically, on the background of deformed uterine cavity (in the region of uterine horns). Two cases, presenting rather typical images, were reported. In the discussion attention was paid to the fact that the main clinical sign in the examined cases was irregular, repeating, long lasting genital bleeding, moderate increase of the uterus and characteristic roentgenologic picture. The histological results from curettages--trial and therapeutic on account of the bleedings, were of undetermined character and was of little help for exact establishment of diagnosis.

[Estrogen-gestagen prevention and treatment of uterine hemorrhages in the premenopause].

Clinical and laboratory study was carried out on 28 women, aged 47,80 years on the average, with uterine bleedings during the premenopausal phase of climacterium and accompanying neurovegetative climacteric symptoms. A cyclic preparation, containing 2 mg of estradiol-17 valerate in the first 11 tablets and the same dose of estrogen with supplement of 0.5 mg of norgestrel in the following 10 tablets was used for a period of 3 months(84 cycles in all). The preparation eliminated efficiently climacteric symptoms in addition to its assurance provision of stable clinical characteristic of succeeding pseudomenstrual symptoms cycles. The preparation did not induce increased thrombogenic risk, because the basic hemostatic indices before and after treatment were not changed. Lipid profile was not altered substantially as there was a favourable tendency to its occurrence in antiatherogenic direction (a reduction of LDL- and VLDL-cholesterol).

[The clinical characteristics of women with uterine hemorrhages in premenopause].

The clinical characteristics was studied on 431 women with uterine bleedings during the premenopaussal phase of the climacterium. The author established that menarche, duration of menstrual interval and the menstruation itself before the bleeding did not differ from those of female population in the country. The same was referred to the reproductive characteristics. Premenopausal bleeding reached its peak between 46 and 48 years of age as its duration was relatively great. It was connected with frequent neuro-endocrine and metabolic pathology. The most frequent manifestations were obesity and hypertension. The number of the former hepatitis patients was comparatively large. Diseases of the uterine body were frequent in the structure of genital pathology. The frequency of benign, precancerous and malignant neoplastic processes (without myoma) was high-12.7%.
