[Journal of the Nursing School of the University of Sao Paulo -- 36 years looking after the quality of nursing care].

REEUSP has been a trimestrial journal since 1998, which publishes 11 to 13 articles per issue on different nursing subareas; most of them on teaching, health technology, adult health (in its different specialties), mental and psychiatric health. The article and research emphasis keeps on the hospital. For being linked to a teaching unit, it presents quality on its publishing; many times produced from thesis and dissertations. It faces the challenge of stimulating the publishing of authors from other institutions; for not becoming endogenous. On the last 10 years, it received and published articles from 18 Brazilian states and several country cities from Sao Paulo State. Its graphic design was also remodeled for 2003, allowing higher clearness and easiness for reading. It accepts exchange with other journals and it is indexed on many basis. It was gotten a C international classification by CAPES.

[Skills development for the intervention of health and disease process of the population: a challenge for the nursing teacher].

Having as an object of study the educational practice-teaching and evaluation--as carried out in the Estágio Rural Integrado of the Federal University of Paraíba, the researchers discuss the relevance of knowledge concerning this educational practice and consider the possibility of implementing processes of teaching and evaluation that may operate transformations. In order to reach this goal, their study is supported by the Competence pedagogical approach. They propose this approach and the methodology underlying TIPESC--Theory of Nursing Practical Intervention in Collective Health--as guiding lines for the processes of the formation and training of health professionals, particularly those in the area of nursing. This aims for the development of critical and reflexive personnel that may respond to the requirements of the Sistema Unico de Saúde.

[Nursing training from the perspective of education-- reflections and challenges for the future].

The present article proposes to show a reflection in the nurse's formation on the point of view of educators, philosophers and contemporary researchers. Moacir Gadotti, Edgar Morin e Philippe Perrenoud's theories and reflections were used, as well as the four pillars of the contemporary education, presented in the Delors Account. The adoption of tools like learning to know, learning to do, learning to be and learning to live together as well as the competences abording, are indispensable devices in the formation of professionals in the modern world. It is believed that in incorporating these new dimensions to the nurse's formation, it will be possible to untie the notts that are to be overcome in the conformation of critic nursing professionals, competent and agents of social transformation.

[Paths to nursing education: continuity or rupture?].

Some reflections are presented about the current trends in Nursing Education in face of Curricular Guidelines for Undergraduate Programs in Nursing, aiming at providing subsidies for changes in Higher Education. It is primarily geared to discussing nurse education, focusing on the development of the competencies needed to change the present health care delivery model and to working in multiprofessional teams, aiming at the consolidation of the Public Health System (SUS--Serviço Unico de Saúde) in Brazil.
