A theoretical model of the excited singlet ungerade electronic states of the nitrogen molecule is presented. This work is an extension of a previous study (D. Stahel, M. Leoni and K. Dressler, J. Chem. Phys. 79, 2541-2558, 1983) with the addition of rotational interactions between states of different symmetry. These rotational interactions together with the homogeneous couplings frequently lead to extreme mixing of the states. This model is being used to analyse the high resolution vacuum ultraviolet emission spectrum which is currently being recorded photoelectrically. The ultimate goal of this work is the reliable interpretation of the low resolution emission spectra observed from planetary atmospheres, notably that of Titan, and the transitions assigned as being important in the Voyager 1 spectra of Titan are discussed in detail.
An instrumental setup has been developed in order to perform a quantitative clinical study of the reflectance of ocular tissues in several spectral ranges of the visible and the near infrared. The images recorded at different wavelengths are obtained nearly simultaneously from a CCD camera adapted to a retinal camera and connected to a microcomputer. The results of their analysis after processing are described. Each different type of lesion exhibits a typical spectral signature, demonstrating the value of this noninvasive extra ancillary test to help the differential diagnosis and the follow-up of choroidal tumors.
Two young women had an osseous choristoma of the juxtapapillary choroid. They were examined for a macular syndrome caused by a subretinal neovascular membrane with hemorrhage. The investigations led to the initial lesion: the osseous choristoma. Ophthalmoscopic findings, diagnosis and discussion are presented.

A chlamydiosis outbreak occurred in a Houbara bustard (Chlamydotis undulata) captive breeding group in Saudi Arabia, inducing peracute deaths, highly variable clinical signs, and pathological and histological lesions. Typical inclusion bodies in stained impression smears of spleen and prevalence (80%) of antibodies against Chlamydia, detected by a competitive enzyme immunoassay test, provided the bases for the diagnosis. This is the first report on a chlamydiosis outbreak in birds of the family Otididae.
