Penetration of benemycin (rifampicin) into the prostate secretion and ejaculate of patients with chronic bacterial prostatitis was studied. It was found that oral administration of the drug in a dose of 300 mg 2 times a day provided bacteriostatic concentrations of the antibiotic in the sexual gland excretions and the treatment efficacy of patients with prostatitis.

The authors examined 350 patients with chronic prostatitis. In 48 (13.7%) of theirs calculi in the prostate were found. The typical clinical manifestations of calculi formation in the prostate, diagnostic criteria and treatment principles developed in the Department of Sexopathology of Kiev Research Institute of Urology and Nephrology are outlined.
A clinical trial of polypeptide prostatic preparation prostatilen has been performed in 37 and 15 patients with chronic prostatitis and prostatic adenoma, respectively. The treatment resulted in attenuation of algetic and dysuria symptoms. Copulative function and spermatogenesis improved. The uroflowmetric index rose, while residual urine and leukocyte count in prostatic secretion reduced. The drug demonstrated antibacterial and immunomodulation effects in the absence of adverse reactions. Prostatilen is indicated in: chronic prostatitis, prostatic adenoma stage I, normospermatogenic and toxic sterility, interoceptive copulative dysfunction, dysuria. The drug in recommended for clinical application.
The clinico-morphologic, clinico-endocrinologic, and morpho-endocrinologic parallels were studied in 126 males with aspermia who underwent genitography and biopsy of the testes. On the basis of the findings, the structure of male sterility in aspermia was exactly identified and the differential diagnostic value of certain values was established; a correlation between the blood follitropine content and the degree of spermatogenesis inhibition in testicular aspermia was revealed in particular. Testosterone excreted in the urine and circulating in blood plasma is reduced by more than three times in this case, while the plasma estradiol level increases 1.5 times. Obturation aspermia accounts for 12.7% and testicular aspermia for 87.3% of all cases of aspermia. Further search for clinico-laboratory and laboratory differential diagnostic criteria in aspermia is necessary. The modern methods of treatment are ineffective.
Endocrine function of the testes, gonadotropic and lactotropic activity of the adenohypophysis have been studied in elderly men with functional sex disorders and during climacterium virile using a radioimmunoassay to determine the levels of testosterone (T), estradiol (E2), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and prolactin in the peripheral blood plasma. Pathological climacterium virile develops in the presence of sharply raised FSH and prolactin production, an elevated LH level, a decreased T level and a sharp rise of the E2 level.

Contrast investigations of corpus cavernosum penis (CCP) have been performed in 42 patients with urethral traumas. A hip-bone fracture and urethral injury were associated with CCP rupture in 76% of the cases. Sexual dysfunction was registered in all the patients, a complete erectile failure occurred in 57.2% of them. Indications to and an original technique of cavernosography are described. 32 patients developed venous blood CCP outflow 8 ones fibrous replacement of the cavernous tissue staged by x-ray examination as stage I and II. Static cavernosography is able to effectively determine changes in the cavernous tissue resultant from urethral trauma, disorders in the CCP venous outflow, a degree of morphological abnormalities in the cavernous tissue and, consequently, should become a mandatory examination for such patients, especially before endophalloplasty.
An effect was studied of appliances for magnetotherapy, such as < >, < >, < >, on sexual function of 105 men presenting with sexual problems. A total of 96 sexological patients were examined according to a general programme, to study placebo-effect. The magnetic field beneficial effect was recordable in 70-80 % of the patients, that of placebo in 33 % men. It is suggested that augmentation of sexual activity is associated with an increase in cavernous bloodflow.
Computer-aided diagnosis was performed, as recommended by Nakatani, in 117 male subjects with sexual problems; of these, 75 underwent microwave resonance therapy (MRT), with 21 subjects having it as a monomethod of their treatment. MRT was found to be useful in treatment of patients with ineroreceptive and psychogenic forms of sexual dysfunctions. Diagnosis according to Nakatani may be recommended for use as a paraclinical method to control the treatments administered.
