[Electrocardiographic studies in acute inferior cardiac infarct].

Studies via the orthogonal electrocardiographic systems of Frank, McFee, SVEC III and Akulinicef were carried out in 91 patients with acute inferior transnural cardiac infarctions, confirmed clinically, electrocardiographically and enzymatically (in 35 patients at necropsy). A higher number of statistically significant indices was found in males (49) as compared with females (40). McFee system indicated the highest number of pathological indices (27), whereas the rest three--almost equal number (Frank and Akulinicev--20 and SVEC III--22). The distribution of the indices in the separate axes established most frequent involvement of the axis Y by the first three systems, and in Akulinicev--most frequently--the axis X. The systems of Frank, McFee and SVEC III were established to indicate direct necrotic-lesion alterations in the axis Y, whereas the system of Akulinicev--only indirect in the axis X. The probable causes for that fact are discussed. The differentiation of inferior-lateral infarction is possible electrocardiographically with all the systems. The indices with high and exceptionally high correlation dependence are reported according to systems and sex. Sex discrepancies are present for Qy in Frank and SVEC III and for Rx--in McFee.

[Comparative studies with 4 orthogonal electrocardiographic systems of left ventricular hypertrophy patients].

One hundred and thirty eight patients with left ventricular hypertrophy confirmed clinically or roentgenologically are discussed, being grouped into three age subgroups, separately males and females. Arterial hypertension is the predominating disease--128. The following orthogonal ECG systems were used: Frank, MacFee, SVEK III and Akulinicev. The results obtained from 155 healthy subjects serve as a comparison. Most typical were established to be the changes with the increased R amplitude in the axes and X, the deviations of Rz being more characteristic for the systems Frank, MacFee and SVEK and in Rx--for Akulinicev system. The changes in some other indices were also discussed (Xt, Xst)--according to age and sex. It was established that the characteristics of left ventricular hypertrophy are electrocardiographically best manifested in MacFee and SVEK, those systems providing positive discrepancies between both sexes.

[Left atrial thrombi manifesting clinically as an annular thrombus].

The authors present a case diagnosed while still living, as an annular thrombus in the left atrium with the presence of a "pure" mitral stenosis. At necropsy, two thrombi were found, one of them "traveling", situated very close to each other, providing conditions for a complete obstruction of the mitral opening and imitating the respective clinical picture.
