[Evaluation of therapy effectiveness in patients with hypertension using graded physical load].

J. W. Franz graded exercise test (GET) was employed to examine healthy subjects, untreated patients with stage I and II essential hypertension and hypertensive subjects treated with hydrochlorthiazide, alpha-methyldopa, prazosine, dilthiazem resultant in normal resting values of blood pressure. Hydrochlorthiazide did not protect the patients from a pathological hypertensive response to GET, whereas alpha-methyldopa and prazosine furnish a physiological hypertensive response in much less number of patients and dilthiazem made possible normal response in the majority of treated patients. GET is suggested for assessing effectiveness of hypertension treatment and individual choice of antihypertensive drugs.

[Graded physical loading in assessing the efficacy of hypotensive pharmacotherapy].

Standardized graded exercise was used to examine 76 patients suffering from stage I and II essential hypertension, in whom the treatment with hypothiazid, hemiton, adelphanesidrex, propranolol and metoprolol resulted in arterial pressure normalization at rest. Hypothiazid did not protect the patients from the development of pathological (excessive) hypertensive response to graded exercise. Hemiton and adelphanesidrex allowed the attainment of normal (physiological) hypertensive response but in a small part of patients. The treatment with beta-adrenoblockers alone and combined with hypothiazid provided physiological hypertensive response to graded exercise in the absolute majority of the patients.

[Beta-adrenergic reactivity in patients with myocardial infarct according to the antihemolytic test].

Propranolol antihemolytic test parameters calculated with the Hill mathematical model from dose-dependent curves of saturation were studied in 27 patients with myocardial infarction. Erythrocyte beta-adrenoreceptors showed higher sensitivity to propranolol in patients with myocardial infarction within 3 days of the disease. Three weeks after therapy, changes were found in the erythrocyte membranes solely in patients receiving beta-adrenoblockers. The changes are indicative of lower sensitivity of beta-adrenoreceptors to the beta-blocker. Persons with varying responses to propranolol were detected among the patients with myocardial infarction, which may be used to define indications for beta-adrenoblocker therapy.

[Studies of the motion of the anterior heart wall and central arteries using radiokinetocardiography].

A total of 21 subjects without signs of circulatory abnormalities were examined by a noninvasive intrascopic cineradiocardiographic technique which involved recording of an electromagnet superhigh-frequency signal reflected from the heart and central arteries. The oscillations occurred in the initial segment of an echo signal were explored. Cineradiocardiography was demonstrated to allow the motions of the arterial wall of the ventricles, atria, and a proximal portion of central arteries to be studied. The areas for applying an aerial to the front chest wall were defined to record the motions of anterior heart walls and central arteries. The features of appropriate cineradiocardiograms were described.

[Radiokinetocardiography: our first experience in studying the movements of the anterior and lateral walls of the left ventricle in patients with myocardial infarct].

Radiokinetocardiography (RKCG), a noninvasive introscopic technique for studying the heart structures by detecting the echoes from the heart of the electromagnetic ultra-high-frequency signal, has been developed. RKCG was used to record the movements of the anterior and lateral walls of the left ventricle in 14 patients with large-focal myocardial infarction localized in the area indicated and in 30 normal persons. The patients were examined at weeks 4-5 of the disease. In patients with myocardial infarction, RKCG permitted one to identify the zones of hypokinesia, dyskinesia (aneurysm), and the transitory zones between the two ones. The use of RKCG makes it possible to discover unequal contractility in the zone of hypokinesia. RKCG appeared to be an informative technique for examining derangements of the movements of the anterior and lateral walls of the left ventricle in patients who suffered myocardial infarction.

[Radiokinetocariography--a noninvasive introscopic method of studying the function of the right ventricle in patients with chronic bronchitis].

Registration of the reflected SHF electromagnetic waves directed to cardiac chambers served the basis for a new technique of cardiokinetoradiography (CKRG) described in the present paper. The technique promotes a phasic analysis of the right heart (RH) performance, evaluation of the RH anterior wall rate and an indirect estimation of the systolic pressure in the pulmonary artery. Prolonged relaxation including isometric relaxation, elevated Mancini isovolumic index are suggested to be early subclinical signs of the RH dysfunction in patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis. With growing RH insufficiency, changes in the phase structure increase, whereas the velocity of the RH anterior wall motion slows down.

[Eosinophilic exudative pleurisy as a manifestation of drug allergy].

The paper is concerned with a study in which eosinophilic exudative pleuritis was the first sign of drug allergy (penicillin, streptomycin, claphoran), also manifesting itself in fever, hemorrhagic eruption, eosinophilia in the blood. Fast recovery was achieved after discontinuation of antibacterial therapy and prescription of prednisolone. The problem of differential diagnosis of pleuritis in acute pneumonia is discussed.

[Serum aldosterone level in patients with hypertension during treatment by acupuncture].

A study was made of the effect of acupuncture procedures on the aldosterone content in the peripheral blood serum of 65 patients with hypertension, Stages I and II. Acupuncture resulted in a hypoaldosteronemic effect which showed statistically significant correlation with a decrease in the arterial blood pressure. The results obtained made it possible to regard the effect of acupuncture as one of the most significant mechanisms of its therapeutic action in hypertension.
