[Intraductal juvenile papillomatosis of the breast].

Papilloma of the female breast is rare before and during puberty. Hence, positive findings recorded from a girl, eleven years of age, encouraged the authors to make these comments on pathogenesis, operability, and prognosis of epithelial proliferations in juvenile patients. Reference is also made to the need for delimitation of this pathological complex from other papillary tumours of the mammary gland.

[Estrogen receptor status of breast cancer patients].

Reported in this paper are studies conducted into oestrogen receptor levels of 103 patients with mammary carcinoma, with the dextran-carbon method being used. The findings thus recorded are discussed for their clinical relevance. Recorded were correlations between quantitative oestrogen receptor levels, on the one hand, and menopausal status, grading, histological typing, and tumour size, on the other.

Adenocarcinoma↗

[Clinical significance of histologic mastopathy diagnosis using quantitative procedures].

Examinations were applied to 101 patients with simple fibrocystic mastopathy (15 cases), proliferative mastopathy (52 cases), invasive ductal carcinoma in concomitance with mastopathy (21 cases), and normal mammary glands (13 probands) in a prospective clinico-morphological pilot study. The use of Robotron A 6471/AMBA-R, a system for automated microscopic image analysis, together with improved methods, has opened up new possibilities for early detection of precancerous changes of the mammary gland. Significant differences were identified between the two clinically relevant groups, II and III, of proliferative mastopathy by quantitative analysis of ductal epithelial proliferations through reproducible measuring data were obtained together with highly distinctive karyometric and histometric parameters. Multiparametrical analysis also provided suggestions to the effect that cases of proliferative mastopathy III, probably, break down into two groups with presumedly differentiated carcinoma risks. Hence, it may well be possible that the biological importance of atypical ductal epithelial proliferations differs from case to case.

[Combined surgical and specific passive xenogenic immunotherapy in UVT tumor-bearing inbred XVII/Bln mice].

The influence of surgical tumor exstirpation and application of 9,6 x 10(6) sensitized rabbit lymphocytes in inbreeding mice was compared with unique surgical therapy. No therapeutic result existed with unique immunotherapy and advanced growth of the tumor (Winzer and Wolf). 74% of the mice were alive with combined therapy on the 21st day after operation respectively on the 31st day after transplantation. On the other hand only 53% of the mice were alive with surgical therapy alone. A clinical use of a unique passive xenogenous immunotherapy does not appear to be indicated, because there was not reached a constant remission.

[The effect of sensitized rabbit lymph node cells on the UVT tumor 15264 in inbred mice XVII/Bln].

The effect of rabbit lymphonode cells sensibilized against the UVT-tumor 15264 was studied and compared with equal tests, in which rabbit lymphocytes sensibilized against normal mouse tissue, resp. non-specific immunocompetent rabbit lymphocytes were used. Although a marked toxicity of rabbits lymphocytes against UVT-tumor 15264 could be proved, the authors observed no significantly longer surviving rate. These results do not correspond with the findings of Symes and Ridell from analogous studies on human individuals. Therefore, in cases with advanced stages heterologous passive immunization without clinical support (combined treatment) ought to be rejected.
