[Lymphatic system changes after the endolymphatic administration of an oil-based solution of dibunol].

Endolymphatic infusions of a 10 percent solution of dibunol in iodolipol or chromolymphotrast were given for prevention of lymphogenic dissemination of rectal cancer. Certain changes in X-ray pattern of lymphogenic metastases developed due to prolonged intravascular retention of the contrast agent. Under such conditions metastatic lesions took the form of collateral lymph flow development and enlargement and deformation of lymph nodes. The diagnostic value of lymphography appears to be still higher when several symptoms of metastatic involvement of the lymphatic system are in evidence.

[Morphological characteristics of Peyronie's disease].

Morphological examinations of 40 operation preparations in Peyronie's disease were done by light and electron microscopy. The studies showed the main changes in this disease to localize in tunica albuginea which thickens considerably forming a plaque. The latter presents bundles of thickened collagen fibers with altered fibroblasts and perivascular round-cell infiltrates. Sometimes areas of formation of cartilage and bone tissue were found. The combination of Peyronie's disease with Dupuytren's contracture was confirmed.

[Giant spreading villous tumors of the colon and rectum].

Two rare observations in which villous tumors affected the mucous membranes of the rectum and transverse colon are described. In one case the lesions extended for 60 cm, in the other the neoplasm occupied the entire inner surface of the rectum and colon as well as the adjacent area of the ileum, whereas in the area of the liver and spleen bends there were areas of adenocarcinoma. Both observations were characterized by marked inflammatory infiltration in some parts of the villous tumor.

[Cloacogenic cancer of the rectum].

Three cases of cloacogenous and 35 cases of squamous-cell carcinoma of the distal part of the rectum and anus were studied and compared histochemically to reveal considerable differences in mucopolysaccharides contained by the tumours. Squamous-cell carcinomas were characterized by the presence of glycogen which was not detected in cloacogenous carcinomas. In squamous-cell carcinomas, glycosamine glycanes were represented by sulfo- and sialo-mucin, while cloacogenous carcinomas largely contained a non-sulfated mucosubstance. The evidence obtained allows one to distinguish, among anal carcinomas of the rectum, a group of cloacogenous carcinomas that arose from the transitional epithelium of the serrate line and that differ from squamous-cell carcinomas in specific metabolic processes.

[Main forms and stages in the development of diffuse polyposis of the large intestine (problems of classification)].

Diffuse polyposis of the large intestine is a hereditary disease involving mostly young people and characterized by a high index of malignization. Previously proposed various classifications of the disease do not reflect completely the numerous important aspects of this pathology. On the basis of macro- and miroscopic studies on 186 operation preparations of the large intestine removed for diffuse polyposis 4 groups of the disease were distinguished: I--the largest group including polyposis with predominance of the cell proliferation processes (various kinds of adenomas--147 observations), II--polyposis with prevalence of secretion processes (juvenile polyps--24 observations), III--polyposis with both signs (10 observations); in this mixed group juvenile polyps alternated with glandular and glandular-villous polyps; group IV included 5 observations with Peuts-Jeghers syndrome.

[Teratoid formations in the pararectal cellular tissue in adults].

Since 1955 to 1975 the authors observed one hundred sixty patients with teratoid formations of the pararectal cellular tissue. Under consideration are diagnostic methods used nowadays clinically and the problems of the differential diagnosis as well. The authors point out the basic principles of surgical treatment of the pathology involved. The authors' experience with surgical treatment and the complications observed are analysed. It is felt that this pathology is encountered much more frequently, than it was previously supposed.
