[Morphometric criteria and the problems of the surgical procedure in Ebstein's anomaly].

There is already a complete description available of the Ebstein's anomaly, and the criteria of its identification have also been thoroughly elaborated. An accurate quantitative assessment of anatomical changes determined morphometrically, however, would help to gain a better insight into the anatomofunctional features of the defect and would present an objective substantiation for selecting the surgery tactics. For this purpose 20 hearts with Ebstein's anomaly and 15 normal hearts were studied morphometrically. The measurements have shown that this anomaly is characterized by an enlargement of the right atrium, a dilated fibrous ring of the tricuspid valve, a lengthened inflow portion of the right ventricle at the expense of either sinuses or the atrial portion as well as by a sharp change in the cusps and the subcusp apparatus. Thus, in selecting surgical tactics and the extension of the surgery it is necessary to take into account the existing anatomical alterations and their severity.

[Congenital heart defects in persons over 16].

The authors had under their observation 389 patients over 16 years of age with congenital heart diseases, 157 of whom were operated on. The specific features of the diagnosis, course, and operative treatment of the most commonly encountered congenital heart disease among adults were studied. Peculiarities were revealed in the clinical symptomatology in adults with congenital heart diseases complicated by pulmonary hypertension. The authors discuss the problems of rehabilitation of adults who had been operated on, in the light of the study of the late postoperative results.

[Electro- and phonocardiographic changes in cases of a common arterial trunk].

Analysing the data of the examination of 27 patients with a common arterial duct the authors studied the phono- and electrocardiographic changes observed in this cardiac defect. The probable phono- and electrocardiographic signs of this pathology are described the criteria that permit to suspect the presence of a common arterial duct are presented.

[Repeated arterial anastomoses in surgery of Fallot's tetralogy].

Among 362 patients with the blue form of tetralogy of Fallot treated by arterial anastomoses, 24 (6.6%) developed its thrombosis in 2 to 10 years. All were subjected to repeated subclavian-pulmonary shunting by means of a fluolon-lavsan vascular prosthesis. The results of the operation were good.

[Surgical treatment of total anomalous drainage of the pulmonary veins].

The article discusses the results of radical correction of total anomalous drainage of the pulmonary veins in 5 patients; 4 had the supracardial and 1 patient--the cardial type of the anomaly with drainage of all pulmonary veins into the coronary sinus. Some details of the surgical intervention are described; some findings of the examination in late postoperative periods (2.0 +/- 1.15 years, on the average) are discussed.
