[Characteristics of the antihypoxic action of piracetam].

Pyracetam was found to inhibit free-radical lipid peroxidation, slow oxygen consumption in the liver mitochondria and increase hemoglobin oxygen-binding properties. It is assumed that the ability of pyracetam to inhibit lipid peroxidation is a mechanism which determines its antihypoxic effect.

[The interaction of pressor and depressor mechanisms in the autoregulation of arterial pressure].

In normal conditions, the threshold depressor effects of the aortal nerve were shown to be stronger than its threshold pressor effects during stimulation of both the hypothalamic pressor points and the pressor areas of the bulbar vaso-motor center. Mono- and polymodal neurons as related to excitation of pressor areas of the posterior hypothalamus and the aortal deressor nerve were revealed in a number of structures of the medulla oblongata cardio-vascular center. The convergent neurons are supposed to determine the output of antagonistic pressor and depressor interrelationships at the level of the medulla oblongata neurons.

[Analysis of the mechanism of the ulcerostatic effect of tris-[2-hydroxyethyl] ammonium salt of iron-containing polyacrylic acid].

It was demonstrated in experiments on rats with acetate gastric ulcer that ammonium salt tris-(2-hydroxyethyl) of iron-containing polyacrylic acid intensifies the development of granulation-fibrous tissue and promotes fuller restoration of connective-tissue polymers--collagen, noncollagenous proteins, and glycosaminoglycans in it. The biochemical results are confirmed by histological studies.

[Effect of oxytocin on the activity of neurons in posterior hypothalamic regions of stressed rats].

The dynamics of pulse activity in the cells of posterior hypothalamic regions was studied in acute experiments on white rats treated with oxytocin. Intravenous injections of the drug induced dose-dependent reorganization of the neuron discharge both in intact rats and in animals with obvious emotional sexual stress. The dose-dependent effect was observed in various latent periods of the neuron response and was manifested by changes in the character of pulsation. The higher the background frequency of cell pulses, the less pronounced was the neuron response to the drug. In some cases, the drug intensified the burst activity and produced regulation of the discharge rhythm.

[Long-term group isolation is a factor of dysregulation of reproductive function in rats].

In the condition of prolonged group sex starvation of rats variations were seen in behavioral reactions, fertility, extent of weight gain, litter, blood alpha-tocopherol level, eosinophil count, lipid peroxidation, evoked brain potentials. All these processes are the sign of stress development in rats. Thus, stress in mature rats influences litter and fertility, newborn rats had underdeveloped nervous system. Changes in the activity of endogenic antioxidant system in this experiment are discussed.

[An analysis of the possible mechanism of the ulcerostatic action of 1-ethoxysilatrane].

Stimulating effect of 1-ethoxysilatrane on healing processes of experimental stomach ulcers was studied in rats. 1-ethoxysilatrane inhibited lipid peroxidation in blood and stomach wall tissues, interacted with artificial membranes, and affected the rate of mitochondrial respiration in liver. A hypothesis is put forward on the membranotropic effect of 1-ethoxysilatrane which underlies its ulcerostatic effect.
