[Pneumoblastoma].

A case of a 55-year old woman with pulmonary blastoma is described. It represents one of the rare pulmonary tumours consisting of nature glandular formations surrounded by mesenchymal structures. Pathogenetic opinions about the lesion are summarized.

[Chronic progressive radiation myelopathy].

Radiation dose absorbed by spinal tissue in 4 cases of chronic progressive myelopathy was analysed so that the criteria could be established for choosing cases in which myelopathy was to be presumed. Nevertheless, neither regressive nor vascular lesion was found in 10 autopsies fitting the criteria. The fact was explained by individual variability or other unknown factors.

[Marinesco bodies in the human mesencephalon].

Substantia nigra in 33 random cases were examined histologically. Quantitative study of the incidence of Marinesco's bodies proved a close relation between the frequency of occurrence and the rising age. Moreover, nosologic units of significantly higher incidence of these inclusions were found than in the cases of other, randomly chosen ones. Their pathogenesis is discussed.

Adult↗

[Candida myocarditis and polymyositis in acute lymphoblastic leukemia].

Candida sepsis in 18-year-old man with acute lymphoblastic leukemia was associated with multisystem alteration accentuated in cardiac and skeletal muscles. Candida tropicalis identified in the post-mortem blood culture was resistant to azole-chemotherapeutics and semi-sensitive to polyene-antibiotics. Unusual myocardial involvement and a role of Candida spp. during opportune infections in immunosuppressed patients are discussed.

[Morphological changes in the lungs after single whole-body irradiation in rabbits].

Morphological changes in rabbit lungs were studied after whole-body nonuniform irradiation (24 Gy) the head and the abdomen being shielded. Acute pneumonitis was shown to develop between the 17th and the 24th day after irradiation. No pulmonary fibrosis was registered 60 days following irradiation. Embolised megakaryocytes were found in the lung capillaries between the 8th and the 24th day after irradiation.
