The experiments were performed on 13 mature cats by injecting horseradish peroxidase (HP) (0.4 mcl 30--40% water solution) into one of cerebral cortical areas (motor, premotor, I and II somatosensory, anterior parietal, orbitofrontal, acoustic and vestibular). HP-positive neurons were observed in the dorsal claustrum only when HP was injected into the somatosensory zone -- the area for representing posterior parts of the body and extremities, and also when HP was injected into the anterior parietal associative zone of the cerebral cortex.
Horseradish peroxidase (HP) was injected (0.2-0.3 mkl, 40%) into the cat striopallidal nuclei. After treating the brain and its sections according to Messulam's technique, it was possible to reveal HP-positive neurons in some structures of the corpus amygdaloideum. When HP was injected into the caudate nucleus, the labelled neurons were found in the basal nucleus of the corpus amygdaloideum. When injected into the globus pallidus--the labelled neurons were revealed in the macrocellular part of the basal nucleus and in the anterior amygdaloid field. Owing to the data obtained, it is possible to suggest that not only the anterior amygdaloid field and the basal nucleus have projections on the putamen, but the medial, central and lateral nuclei of the corpus amygdaloideum, as well.
The efferent direct connections of the head and tail of the caudate nucleus with the cortex of the ipsilateral hemisphere were studied in adult Macaca mulatta. Degeneration of endings in the frontal, precentral and postcentral convolutions was found ipsilaterally in sections of the brain impregnanted after Wiitanen after destruction of the caudate nucleus. The course of solitary fibres to sites of localization of degenerating endings was followed. as compared with the cat in which caudate-cortical projections had been established earlier, cortical zones with degenerated endings were located more discretely in Macaca mulatta.

At present, there are no simple and reliable methods for selection of compounds with physiological activity in super-low concentrations (SLC). The screening system with high predictability is proposed. At the beginning, experiment is carried out on infusorians--spirostoma. Their motion activity, behavior, living ability and shape are registered at concentrations of substances in a range of 10(-3)-10(-13) mol/l. If the effect is detected on spirostoma, then experiments are performed on laboratory animals or their isolated tissues. Specific deviations on injection substance in SLC are detected, depending on compounds class. Nine representatives of different classes of biologically active compounds are investigated in the work: carbofos, deltametrin, 3-quinuclidinyl benzylate, atropine, phenosan, fenazepam, dopamine receptor antagonist SCH-23390, ciprine, and hexenal. It is accepted that if compound action in SLC is observed on spirostoma, then effects in super-low doses are also detected in a whole animal.
