[Hematologic manifestations of thymomas].

The hematologic manifestations during thymomas are dominated by erythroblastopenia. Though, the other series can be affected and red series can present other troubles. The authors report two cases, one with erythroblasto-penia-hypogammaglobulinemia, the other with polycythemia, and a review of the literature attempt to make the point on the subject.

[Frequency of thalassemia in the South-East of France].

The ethnic and demographic characteristics of the Nice region are predisposing factors in the locally increased frequency of Thalassemia. The use of electronic blood-cell counters has enabled us to pick out easily all those patients presenting with microcytosis. In these patients, foetal hemoglobin, electrophoresis on cellulose acetate and level of hemaglobin A2 by the technique of miniature chromatography on DEAE-cellulose have been analyzed. 270 heterozygotes thalassemics were found in 900 examinations. The statistical study shows an incidence 2% of beta-thalassemia in the Nice region.

[Radiologic study of the jaws in the course of myeloma. A propos of 111 cases].

The authors studied the radiological manifestations in bone in 111 patients suffering from multiple bone myeloma. The analysis deals mainly with the maxilla, and in particular with the lower maxilla which was the site of myelomatous lesions in 49 cases. The authors describe two different types of image observed and the radiological methods used, and they discuss the principal problems of diagnosis. They emphasize the diagnostic value of systematic study of this site, which may be solitary, without a concomitant lesion of the cranial dome in particular.
