[Mesiodens and heredity].

The authors describe the case of mesiodens in two non-identical twins and in their grandfather. They recall that, although no investigation confirmed the hereditary nature of the mesiodens, it is quite undeniable in view of the frequency of familial cases. They think there is a recessive gene on an autosome and a gene on the inhibiting chromosome X. They discount the theory of mutation.

[Permanent jaw constriction of extra-articular origin].

The authors describe a new case of permanent constriction of extra-articular osseous origin. They consider the classical distinction between constrictions due to traumatism and those due to malformation (O. Jacob's disease) debatable, for this malformation is usually secondary to traumatism. They also think that the osteoma responsible for constriction may be considered a localisation of neurogenic para-osteoarthropathies.

[Mandibular metastasis disclosing a primary cancer of the liver].

The authors describe a new case of mandibular metastasis of a hepatome. They recall that these metastases indicate tumour and that they are generally haemorrhagic. Diagnosis is confirmed by means of biopsy, but the scanner or echotomography and angiography reveal the primary lesion. Investigation using marked technetium pyrophosphate is essential to screen for further osseous lesions.
