[Pylorus-reconstructing operations in complicated gastric and duodenal ulcer].

The results of treatment of 185 patients with complicated gastric and duodenal ulcer disease have been analysed. The results of operative treatment in 132 patients followed up for the period of from 1 to 7 years were studied. In gastric ulcer, resection of the stomach with preservation of the pyloric sphincter, or its reconstruction by means of the flaps taken from the antrum, is indicated; in duodenal ulcer--vagotomy, ulcer excision added by pylorus-preserving and pylorus-reconstructing methods of drainage operations.

[Prognosis of the development and prevention of primary post- operative peptic stricture of the esophagus].

Examined were 58 patients with primary postoperative peptic esophageal stricture (PPPES). The ulcer disease of pyloroduodenal location and impaired function of the esophagus were the leading causes of a stricture. The prognostic algorithm for the PPPES development, which considers the presence of hiatal hernia, severe disorders in gastric evacuation and vomiting, pronounced weakness of a patient, severe complications of the ulcer disease before the operation, has been developed. The prophylactic measures in given pathology are suggested.
