Budd-Chiari syndrome is a well described entity which can easily be confused with congestive hepatomegaly. The syndrome usually is caused by thrombosis of the hepatic veins, however it also can be caused by congenital fibrous webs that occlude hepatic vessels in the inferior vena cava. It leads to an enlarged liver with ascites, peripheral edema, and portal hypertension.

In a review of the literature, it can be determined that large osteomas of the mandible are relatively rare. Of those that have been described, the location is normally posterior to the premolars on the lingual surface of the mandible or in the condylar area. This article presents a case of an atypical presentation of an osteoma arising from the genial tubercle area.
A rapid technique is described for placement of a temporary pontic to provide immediate esthetics after extraction of an anterior tooth. It requires no laboratory facilities, no natural tooth preparation, and uses only a few dental materials. Being functional and practical, it allows the patient time to seek further care from a general practitioner at a time convenient to them both. Additionally, the psychological distress associated with removal of an anterior tooth is minimized, if not eliminated. Because no natural teeth are involved with any dental preparations, further prosthetic treatment is not compromised. Addition of this technique to the surgeon's treatment regimen is cost effective, and it will improve the relationship between patient and surgeon.
