[Comparative clinico-therapeutic study of amitriptyline hydrochloride (Tryptizol/amitriptyline)].

As compared to the psychopharmacological profile of amitriptyline hydrochloride the authors analyse the findings of a comparative clinical trial amitriptyline versus Tryptizol regarding their efficacy in neurotic and presenile depression. 170 inpatients divided into four comparative series were investigated. The drugs were administered according to the same scheme in monotherapy for 30 days. The efficiency and tolerance of these drugs were estimated through clinical observations, the recording of the first ameliorated state and the maximum one, psychological check-up by using Hamilton's scale for depressions, paraclinical investigation, recording of side effects, clinical and paraclinical screening for 0-10-20-30 days. The analysis of clinical findings in the investigated series reveals for both drugs their easy administration, tolerance, incidence and low intensity of the side effects. The comparative estimation of the treatment with amitriptyline and Tryptizol in neurotic and presenile depressions attests a similar therapeutic efficiency.

[Integrative model of the ontogeny and destruction of human behavior].

In a review of the data in the literature completed with authors own researches (concerned with twins, chromosome abnormalities, incestuous descent, socially assisted children etc.) an integrative model regarding the ontogenesis and destruction of human behaviour is presented. According to this model, behaviour appears as a hierarchical and integrated system expressing the process of its development from automatic and reactive to noologic and reflexive. The integrative, systemic concept promotes, theoretically and methodologically, the understanding and competent investigation of human behaviour in its two fundamental states, integrated and destructive.

[The significance of psychopathologic reactions and developments in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis].

Some psychopathological aspects occurring in the evolution of tuberculosis and the management of the mental patients with confirmed pulmonary tuberculosis are presented and commented upon. The analysis is based on the 20-year experience of a psychiatric unit specialized in attending such patients. The importance of a close cooperation phthisiologist-psychiatrist in individualizing the therapy choice of psychotropic and tuberculostatic drugs and avoidance of their possible incompatibilities is underlined. Given the mobility of the mental patients in the actual mental health care system and the development of some psychobehavioral risks, such as cooperation is also necessary in the prophylactic and rehabilitation programmes as part of populational health care delivery.

[Standardized scale instruments for evaluating the relational meanings of motivation, pathogenesis and care in alcoholism].

The authors give synthesis of five scale methods for alcoholism (Alcoholism Severity Scale, Mac Andrew Scale, Bell Alcoholism Scale of Adjustment, Manson Evaluation and Iowa Alcoholic Intake Schedule), four scale means of the type of Psychological tests (Alcadd Test, Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test, Mortimer-Filkins Test and Essential Reactive Alcoholism Dimension) and three procedures of the type of personality inventory and questionnaire (Drinking Behaviour Interview, Alcoholism Assessment Interview and Alcoholism Use Questionnaire) tools that were at the basis of the construction of a "Scale of Estimating Medical Implications in Alcoholism" conceived experimented and validated in the psychiatric clinic of Iaşi.

[Clinical observations of treatment with Lyorodin-depot (Jenapharm)].

According to the indications of fluphenazin decanoate in the long-term treatment in schizophrenia the authors analyse the findings of a simple blind study of Lyorodin-depot on a sample of 20 inpatients. The drug was administered at intervals of 21 days for 18 weeks under clinical surveillance. The method consisted of patients' follow-up on an itemized card, psychological checkups and para-clinical investigations. The analysis of clinical findings reveals the amelioration of symptoms at the parameters accounted for, the favourable evolution low incidence of the side effects that confirms its clinical efficiency and tolerance.

[Criteriological evolution in psychopathology].

Any theoretical direction in psychiatry takes into account a definition of the illness, and of the state of health and their limits, as well as the relationships between these two different states in their psychobehavioral expressiveness and within the relational system of personality. The states which are taken as deviations from what is generally considered and accepted as normal state, have always been identified and form the so-called major mental pathology, but one cannot ascertain the same thing about the so-called borderline states, and the representation of normality. It is also true that within the two international systems of classification, WHO and DSM-III one can find the difficulty and even the hesitation of using the term "mental illnesses" instead to use "mental disorders". These are the reasons that made the author consider useful the illustration of the diagnostic criterion through the classification of the concepts on mental illness--an evolution illustrated by the contribution of syndrome concepts, i.e. an anatomoclinical state according to the evolution of the symptoms, psychopathological criteria and generally the dimensional and categorical criteria. Thus, the criteriological investigation remains a theoretical actual approach and at the same time applicable for the psychiatric care.

[The treatment of depressive states with opipramol (Insidon--Geigy)].

The authors analyse the findings of a clinical simple-blind trial of the drug Insidon--Geigy in depressive states. This drug was administered in monotherapy for 28 days in average doses of 150 mg daily in a series of 20 inpatients of both sexes and aged 20-60 years, diagnosed with neurotic depressive state. The efficiency of the treatment and its tolerance were estimated on a special Ciba-Geigy Pharma International investigation card through clinical observation, scoring of clinical items, psychological check-up and Hamilton's scale for depression at 0-7-14-21 and 28 days, paraclinical investigations, computer processing (TIM-S) on the basis of a program (in BETA BASIC language in 3.1 version) necessary for determining the polynomial functions for the significant items of the psychopathological syndrome (anxiety, depression, insomnia). The corroboration of the data of clinical and paraclinical observations with the psychologic examination and the computer-processed data reveals the clinical efficacy of Insidon--Geigy in neurotic depression, its good tolerance and low incidence of side effects.

Medical and relational significance in the pathologic behavioural risk.

The pathologic behavioural risk comprises both psychiatric emergencies and an extensive area of processes in the evolution of which may occur situation of severe prejudice for the patient and his environmental relations. The medical significance of these situations emerges from a clear understanding of the notional medical emergency and the present-day extension of psychiatric care through which aggravations and crises which disturb or endanger life and the conditions of the values promoted by him may be brought into relief and anticipated. Both psychiatric emergency and the pathologic behavioural risk appear as a common element of dangerousness, a feature that can not be generalized or replaced with mental illness. The medical and relational significance of pathological behavioural risk contributes to the accuracy of the content of the actual problems of psychiatric care delivery and research work.
