[Participation of the right chambers of the heart and pulmonary vessels in the development of changes in cardiac output during exclusion of the carotid sinus reflexogenic zone].

In 67% of tests, a decrease in the output from the cat left heart ventricle entailed a lessening of the lung artery blood flow, the latter being combined with an increased inflow to the right atrium in half of the cases. Suppression of beta-adrenoreceptors exerted no effect on the output from the right ventricle. Different factors are discussed affecting the lung artery blood flow and efficiency of the right ventricle in formation of shifts in the output from the left ventricle under occlusion of carotid arteries.

[Analysis of the factors determining the change in cardiac output during administration of catecholamines].

Electromagnetic flow metering was used in acute experiments on cats to study the cardiac output (CO) and venous return (VR) changes under pressor reactions in response to noradrenaline (NA) and adrenaline (A) infusion. The CO increased in 2/3 and decreased in 1/3 of all observations in response to NA infusion. In half of observations, the VR had the same line of changes as the CO. Similar changes in the CO and VR were obtained after A infusion. The blockade of beta- and M-cholinoreceptors did not affect the magnitude of CO changes in response to NA infusion but played a certain role in response to A infusion. The level of the arterial blood pressure under which the increase of the CO in response to NA infusion was mostly recorded has been established.

[Analysis of the factors affecting cardiac output in exclusion of the sino-carotid reflexogenic area].

In acute experiments on cats, the character and mechanisms of changes of the heart pumping function were studied in suppression of the carotid sinus baroreceptors with occlusion of the carotid arteries. In 65% of tests the cardiac output was reduced. Changes of venous return, at that, were diverse and opposite to those of the cardiac output in 50% of observations. Neither vagotomy, nor blockade of beta-adreno- and M-cholinoreceptors affected the character of cardiac output changes. The role of maximal responses of arterial pressure in forming of the cardiac output shifts in sino-carotid reflex, is discussed.

[Mechanisms of changes in cardiac output during stimulation of afferent fibers of a somatic nerve].

In anesthetized cats, the technique of electromagnetic expenditure-metry aided to study changes of the cardiac output and venous inflow in pressor responses to stimulation of the tibial nerve's afferent fibers. The cardiac output was found to increase in 47% of observations which was accompanied by increased venous inflow in half of the cases and by decreased one in 1/3 of observations. Vagotomy as well as suppression of the efferent link of cardiac responses with atropin and obsidan induced shifts of the cardiac output in the somatic nerve stimulation. The optimum level of arterial pressure responses was revealed peculiar by positive shifts of the cardiac output in pressor responses to the above action.

[Central noradrenergic regulation of cerebral blood flow].

In acute experiments in anesthetized cats after upper cervical sympathectomy, the influence of locus coeruleus stimulation on carotid blood supply of the brain and the local cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the parietal region were studied. The stimulation increased both the arterial pressure and the local cortical blood flow. If the arterial pressure was stabilized with pressostate, the stimulation decreased the cerebral blood supply and increased the local CBF after a 2-sec latency. This suggests that the intracerebral noradrenergic system performs the direct neurogenic control of cerebrovascular tone. The influence of this system differs in different regions of the cerebral vascular bed.

[Sympathetic tonus of the cerebral vessels].

The bilateral cervical sympathectomy in anesthetized cats with initial arterial pressure (AP) 80--115 mm Hg increased the total blood flow while decreasing the local cerebral blood flow. In initial AP 116--135 mm Hg no effect on the total cerebral blood flow occurred while the local cerebral blood flow diminished insignificantly. If the AP was 136--180 mm Hg, the sympathectomy effect was only revealed after preliminary activation of the sympathetic nervous system. The effect of the sympathectomy depends on initial cerebral vascular tone, the perfusion pressure being one of the major factors.

[Participation of vasopressin and adrenal gland adrenaline in the mechanism of reflex coronary vasoconstriction].

In 17 acute experiments on sympatho- and vagotomized cats under chloralose anesthesia in conditions of stabilised blood pressure following bilateral common carotid arteries occlusion, similar coronaroconstriction occurred before and after adrenalectomy. The increase of latency and maximum of reaction were obvious in adrenalectomized cats as well as clear correlation between the coronaroconstriction and elective activation of HHNS as manifested in the increase of synthesis, transport, and release of vasopressin into blood flow. The data suggest participation of both endogenous vasopressin and epinephrine of adrenal glands in coronaroconstriction bollowing carotid occlusion.

[Rapid autoregulatory component of cerebral vessels].

The changes of cerebral blood flow registered by means of flowmeter in the common carotid artery were investigated during fast raise and drop of arterial blood pressure in acute experiments on anesthetized cats. Both the raise and drop of arterial pressure resulted in fast autoregulatory changes of cerebral blood flow occurring even after resection of cervical sympathetic ganglia. The alpha-adrenergic blockade abolished the fast autoregulatory phase during raise of the arterial pressure. These findings sugget participation of noradrenergic mechanisms in reaction to acute hypertension.

[Changes in coronary circulation following reflex excitation of the sympathetic nervous system].

The patterns and efferent mechanisms of coronary blood flow reactions in cats following sympathetic activation after hemorrhage and carotid occlusion, were studied. Like in other vascular regions, the sympathetic activation led to alpha-adrenergic coronary constriction which was particularly clear after blocking of neurogenic and metabolic vasodilatory factors (beta-blockers, atropine). The significance of myogenic constrictory component was elucidated as well.
