[Mechanism of the transmission of the causative agents of infectious diseases].

Another interpretation, differing from the commonly acknowledged one, of the transfer mechanism is presented. The factors transporting pathogens in the body are the integral part of the transfer mechanism. They ensure the interrelation of the infectious and epidemic processes. In typical contact infections these factors function integrally as the transfer mechanism consisting of two components. This is the sum total of environment and internal factors, specific for a given pathogenic species. These factors ensure the travel of the pathogens from an infected body to a new one. From this viewpoint, the source of infection cannot be an independent element of the infectious process. It is only a transfer factor. The localization of the pathogen, constituting just one of the stages of its travel route in the body, cannot determine the specificity of the transfer mechanism. Its specificity depends on the properties of the pathogen.

[Indicators of cardiohemodynamics and components of the kinin system of blood plasma in patients with salmonellosis treated by various methods].

Seventy patients with salmonellosis of moderate severity were examined for cardiohemodynamics and plasma kininogenesis over time depending on the treatment. It was found that indomethacin applied in a complex of treatment measures had a beneficial effect on cardiovascular and kinin system functions in the stage of early convalescence.

[Study of the left coronary artery by ultrasonic sectorial scanning].

Ultrasonic sectorial scanning was used to investigate 34 survivors of wide-spread anterior myocardial infarction and 25 normal subjects. The image of the proximal portion of the left coronary artery (LCA) was obtained from the parasternal access in 94.9% and the apical access in 96.6% of cases. Increased density of the arterial wall was demonstrated in all patients. A method of assessing the density of the left coronary artery through the comparison of image intensities obtained for the LCA with those of aortic walls and valve, is suggested.

[Conformational mobility and enzymatic activity of Ca2+-ATPase from sarcoplasmic reticulum].

Purified preparations of Ca2+-dependent ATPase were lipid-deleted and incorporated into egg lecithin (EL) and dipalmitoyl lecithin (DPL) liposomes. The temperature dependences of the catalytic activity and of molecular mobility of the spin label (N-1-hydroxyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl) maleimide linked to a highly reactive SH-group in the vicinity of the active center (15-16 A) and of the fatty acid spin probe (6-doxylpalmitate) located in the protein-lipid moiety were compared. The molecular mobility of the spin label was measured by the saturation transfer method; that of the spin probe was estimated from the maximal splitting value. It was found that the catalytic activity of DPL is correlated with the molecular mobility of the hydrophobic part of ATPase, while that of EL with the segment flexibility in the vicinity of the active center.
