[Determination of kinetic parameters lymphocyte populations in cows with chronic lymphocytic leukemia].

We analyzed changes in the number of lymphocytes in the blood of cows with chronic lymphoid leukemia using the Gomperts equation of population dynamics. The parameters of this equation were determined. Coefficients beta and gamma proved to be the most variable. The former reflects the delay and the latter characterizes the maximum rate of growth of the lymphocyte population. According to these parameters, three groups of animals were distinguished with different kinetics of leucosis and different correlations between immuno-hematological indices.

[A variant of peritoneostomy as a means for intensive therapy and detoxication in acute diffuse suppurative peritonitis].

The authors have improved the method of open treatment of acute diffuse purulent peritonitis. Clinical test of the original peritoneostomy variant has shown it's perspectivity. The treating effect is explained by the possibility of performing of permanent controlled sanation of abdominal cavity, prophylaxis of lung postoperative complications and defence of abdominal wall tissues from the repeated infection. The method is recommended to be applied in clinic.

[State of the kinin-regulating function of the lungs in the perioperative period in patients undergoing thoracic surgery].

Kallikrein-kinin system (prekallikrein and kallikrein) has been studied in arterial and mixed venous blood of 22 patients operated on the lungs and mediastinum for suppurative processes and tumors and in 15 patients operated on for ischemic heart disease (aortocoronary bypass surgery). The study was conducted before surgery, immediately after the operation was over, and 8 to 10 hours after surgery. It has been observed that the lungs do not play an essential part in the regulation of background plasma kallikrein activity. Metabolic function as regards kallikrein manifests only with the activation of kallikrein synthesis in systemic circulation. Pathologically changed pulmonary tissue is itself a source of elevated kinin formation, whose products, in their turn, are destroyed in the organs and tissues of systemic circulation, while surgical interventions on the lungs are also accompanied by short-term enhancement of kinin release into the arterial blood.

[Assessment of the activity of choline acetyltransferase in heart tissues].

A procedure is described for the radioisotope assay of acetylcholine transferase activity (EC 2.3.1.6), which involved specific synthesis of acetylcholine in vivo. Bromine acetylcholine was used as an inhibitor of the enzyme; 14C-AcCoA was used as a substrate and product of the enzymatic reaction. 14C-acetylcholine was separated from the substrate by means of anion exchange chromatography. The procedure described was 5 times more sensitive than the methods developed by F. Fonnum (1975) and S. Tucek (1983) being similarly reproducible. The assay was tested in experiments with rats under various conditions of hyperbaric oxygenation, in simulation of myocardial infarction as well as in moderate immobilization stress. The findings suggest that estimation of the acetylcholine transferase activity may be involved in complex evaluation of the cholinergic system state in tissues, which is essential for the study of pathogenesis of their dysfunctions and development of respective approaches to eliminate these impairments.
