[Analysis of experiments on kinetics of recycling of asialoglycoprotein receptors on the basis of a mathematical model].

By means of a linear model of receptor-mediated endocytosis experiments on the kinetics of binding and internalisation of asialoglycoproteins were analysed, as well as the dependence of ligand binding on the cells of human hepatoma HepG2 on asialoglycoprotein concentration in the medium described earlier. The kinetic constants of the process were determined. The analysis presented discards the hypothesis advanced by Schwartz et al. that at high concentrations of asialoglycoproteins in the medium the recycling of receptors of the tumor cells of HepG2 is inhibited.

[The effect of cell migration on the stability of immunogenic multicentric tumors].

A mathematical model of the growth of multicentrical tumors under conditions of the tumor cells interactions with cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL), natural resistant factors and cells and migration CTL between tumor focuses is presented. For any finite number of the tumor focuses at the comparatively low intensity migration of CTL the dynamic stability conditions among multicentrical tumors and the immune system were obtained.

[Changes in the microviscosity of the plasma membrane and sensitivity to PGE1 of platelets stored at 22 and 4 degrees C].

Effect of platelet storage within 1-3 days on the cell membranes microviscosity, studied by means of a spin probe, and their sensitivity to PGEI, inhibitor of ADP aggregation, were studied. The highest values of fluidity and PGEI sensitivity exhibited plasmatic membranes of platelets stored at 22 degrees; lower values were found in the membranes stored at 4 degrees as compared with native fresh platelets. The data obtained suggest the dissimilar character of alterations in structure and functions of platelet plasmatic membrane during storage at 22 degrees and 4 degrees.

[Low molecular weight and protein dinitrosyl complexes of non-heme iron as inhibitors of platelet aggregation].

Dinitrosyl complexes of ferrum with thiosulfate or reduced glutathione were found to inhibit completely aggregation of human thrombocytes, suspended in artificial protein-free medium. The inhibitory effect appears to occur as a result of activating action of nitrogen oxide derived from the complexes and affecting the thrombocyte guanylate cyclase.

[Evaluation of a safe rate when falling on one's head].

The authors analysed 303 patients with closed craniocerebral trauma resulting from falling from a height. The material obtained was treated by the methods of statistical analysis to reveal the relations of the severity of the craniocerebral trauma and the rate of the impact.

[Study of Ca-dependent ATPase of sarcoplasmic reticulum by the use of selectively bound spin labels].

The dependence of the ESR spectral parameters of spin labelled sarcoplasmic reticulum membranes on the amount of bound maleimide spin label is found which is shown to result from non-equivalence of the different SH groups rather than from enzyme activity changes on modification. Some structural characteristics (local polarity, the accessibility to water soluble reagents, the distance from ATP binding site) of the fast and slowly reacting SH groups were studied using selective labelling technique. The main contribution to the ESR absorption for both types of thiol groups gives the spin labelled Ca-ATPase. The slow rotational mobility of both types of strongly immobilized spin labels is measured using microwave saturation technique. This mobility is shown to be due essentially to intramolecular motion in different regions of the Ca-ATPase. The frequency of this motion correlates with the enzyme activity and it is sensitive also to the interaction of the enzyme with the substrates (ATP, acetylphosphate) and to the changes of lipid-protein interaction by temperature variation.

[Aggregation of rhodopsin molecules during damaging exposure of photoreceptor membranes to light].

Injuring light induced structural changes in rod outer segment (ROS) membranes are studied using "ST EST spectroscopy" for spin labelled rhodopsin, ESR of lipid spin label and SDS gel-electrophoresis. Free SH-group content of rhodopsin and lipid peroxidation level were simultaneously determined as well. A decrease of rotational mobility of rhodopsin in ROS induced by prolonged illumination is shown to result from irreversible protein aggregation caused by disulfide bond formation between "hydrophobic" SH-groups of rhodopsin. Some decrease of lipid microviscosity and degree of order are found, in contrast to considerable rise in microviscosity due to Fe2+-ascorbate induced lipid peroxidation of ROS membranes. Lipid oxidation is found to accelerate protein aggregation which in its turn influences the state of lipid bilayer.
