[Use of myocardial scintigraphy with Tl-201 and veloergometry in patients with typical stenocardia and atypical pain syndrome].

The results of myocardial scintigraphy with 201Tl used in combination with bicycle ergometry in 19 patients with typical angina and in 41 patients with an atypical pain syndrome are reported. Possible use of a single 201Tl dose at the peak of exercise is considered. The diagnostic value of myocardial scintigraphy with 201Tl was not basically different from that of conventional bicycle ergometry in patients with typical angina, whereas in cases of an atypical pain syndrome myocardial scintigraphy had an essential advantage over bicycle ergometry, which in this case was associated with a noticeably increased number of uncertain or negative results. Total assessment of the exercise test, using both methods, was found to have a higher diagnostic value in both groups.

[Use of myocardial scintigraphy with 201T1 in combination with the dipyridamole test in patients with ischemic heart disease].

Possible diagnostic use of myocardial 201T1-scintigraphy combined with the dipyridamole test in coronary patients is described. Twenty-six patients were investigated. Coronarography showed atherosclerotic lesions of coronary arteries in 12. The dipyridamole test was positive in all patients with affected coronary arteries, as evidenced by myocardial 201T1-scintigraphy. In the patients with intact coronary arteries, myocardial 201T1-scintigraphy combined with the dipyridamole test was negative in 9 cases and positive in 3. The study demonstrates high sensitivity of the method described.

[Scintigraphy and emission computer tomography of the head in the diagnosis of intracranial venous congestion].

A comprehensive examination, including scintigraphy and emission computer-aided tomography of the head, was carried out in 124 patients with various forms of vascular pathology of the brain and in 25 clinically healthy subjects. Clinical-rheoencephalographic examination revealed intracranial venous congestion in 97 patients. The possibilities of radionuclide research methods in detecting venous cerebral pathology are shown. The compensatory reserves of the cerebral venous system in cases of intracranial venous congestion of various intensity are analyzed.

[Single-photon emission computer tomography of the brain in the clinical neurology].

Using a new method of radionuclide diagnosis (monophoton emission computer-aided tomography), the authors examined 89 patients with vascular, inflammatory and sizable lesions of the brain and 16 clinically healthy subjects. The method was found to be valuable for obtaining a three-dimensional image of the pathological changes in the brain, for specifying the localization of these changes and their pathomorphological basis. The technique is particularly helpful when the focus is deeply sited and is adjacent to bone and other structures actively accumulating radionuclide where usual scintigraphy of the head and in some cases even computer-aided roentgenotomography prove insufficiently informative.

[Use of nitroglycerin in the treatment of patients with myocardial infarct].

The effect of the intravenous administration of nitroglycerin on the general course of myocardial infarction as well as on such syndromes as acute left ventricular insufficiency, progressive congestive cardiac failure and the recurring painful syndrome was studied. The assessment of the effect of the drug was carried out in relation to its capacity to limit the extension of myocardial infarction and regulate the blood supply to the organs. The data on the frequency and nature of side-effects following nitroglycerin administration are presented. The conclusion is drawn as to the advisability of the drug employment in patients in the acute period of myocardial infarction when it is indicated as well as on the necessity of predicting adverse hemodynamic response to nitroglycerin with the help of suggested diagnostic tests.
