[Intestinal dysbacteriosis in yersiniosis patients and the possibility of its correction with biopreparations].

Intestinal dysbacteriosis was found in all 37 patients with intestinal yersiniosis or pseudotuberculosis. Administration of biopreparations containing lacto- or bifidobacteria produced a good clinico-microbiological response rate (above 90%). The authors think it valid to include biopreparations in combined treatment of yersiniosis to prevent unfavourable outcomes.

Acute Disease

[Indicators of oxygen-dependent metabolism of peripheral blood neutrophils in the differential diagnosis of bacterial and viral infections].

Oxygen-dependent metabolism of peripheral neutrophils was compared for viral hepatitis and acute yersiniosis patients. The metabolism inhibition was seen in both the diseases with lower values for viral hepatitis. Neutrophil function was dependent on the disease gravity. Its recovery went in parallel with other clinical and laboratory signs of convalescence. A luminol-dependent chemiluminescence test is proposed for differential diagnosis of viral hepatitis with jaundices in generalized bacterial infection.

Acute Disease

[Clinical picture of tropical malaria in persons having undergone chemoprophylaxis].

Suppressive therapy with chloroquine and fansidar at standard doses does not prevent malaria at the time of a maximum level of infecting agent transmission but only weakens the expression of clinical manifestations. The main clinical signs are nonspecific symptoms of infectious intoxication. At the seasonal peak of tropical malaria incidence, doses of individual chemoprevention should be doubled as compared to the standard ones.

Adult

[Pneumoencephalography in multiple sclerosis].

Pneumoencephalography was performed in 35 patients with a significant diagnosis of disseminated sclerosis. Enlargement of the III ventricle was revealed in 21 patients (60%), dropsy of lateral ventricles in 16 (45,6%) and that of the IV ventricle in 13 (37,2%), atrophy of brain stem in 9 (25,4%), block of the subarachnoidal space in 11 patients (31,4%). The most pronounced brain changes were seen in patients with a cerebellar form of disseminated sclerosis and in those having severe motor disturbances, ataxia and tremor. The degree of hydrocephalus did not depend on the disease duration. A possible pathogenetic role of dropsy in disseminated sclerosis is discussed. Hydrocephalus may be considered as an additional clinicoroentgenological feature of disseminated sclerosis.
