[The analysis of cases of delayed diagnosis of tuberculosis among the population of the Cheliabisk district].

There was a steady-state rise in tuberculosis morbidity in the Chelyabinsk Region in the 1990s. At the same time, the number of patients whose disease is untimely detected was on the increase and in some cases the disease is found just at autopsy. These facts result from the lower efficiency of tuberculosis controlling measures, from low training of general physicians in detecting and diagnosing tuberculosis, and from failure to meet the standards for examining all those who have fallen ill.

Reactive properties of epi- and perineurium: experimental and morphological basis for nerve suture technique.

Epi- and perineurium were examined in vitro and during regeneration after mechanical damage. Epithelial type of culture growth and reparative regeneration of the perineurium were established, connective tissue of the epineurium served as the substrate and trophic factor in these processes. We used histogenetic method of coaptation and of epi- and perineural micosutures in a damaged nerve trunk.

[Clinical-morphological characteristics and prevention of steroid tuberculosis].

The analysis is given of the autopsy material obtained from 39 cases of progressive tuberculosis which developed against glucocorticosteroid treatment of different diseases. In 28 of 39 patients progression of tuberculosis was stated as the main cause of death. There were 12.8% and 43.6% of cases with primary and disseminated tuberculosis, respectively. Clinicoanatomical correlations related tuberculosis onset to the hormonal treatment regimens. Comparison of the final clinical and pathomorphological diagnoses showed that tuberculosis had been overlooked in 51.3% of cases.

[Organization and methods of teaching a course on biopsy and dissection].

This course is to be organized during the last year of the Institute, the student group should have at least 18 lectures lasting for not more than 2-3 hours. The course should be integrated with other medical disciplines and chairs. The teaching of hospital pathology should be based on unified modern concepts of diagnosis, clinico-anatomical correlations, student independent work, etc.

[Morphofunctional characteristics of the APUD-cell and lymphocyte reactions in the lungs of children with acute pneumonia].

The lungs of 40 children who had died at the age of 1 month to 3 years were studied using special immunohistochemical and morphometric methods. Destructive lung processes were registered more frequently in children below one year of age with acute pneumonia having a similar viral-bacterial etiology. The content of apud-cells with an argyrophilic reaction, amine-containing APUD-cells and lymphocytes with cyclic nucleotides was significantly decreased and indices of the lymphocyte functional activity lowered comparing to the older age group. An essential role of the physiological immaturity of the biogenic amine synthesis by apud-cells is attributed in the acute pneumonia pathogenesis in children of early age. This aggravates immune deficiency and the development of the destructive forms of inflammation.

[Clinico-pathological comparisons in tuberculosis among young patients].

Clinico-pathoanatomic features and thanatogenetic aspects in tuberculosis in young subjects have been studied by retrospective analysis of medical documentation and postmortem findings. Among the 43 young subjects who died within 10 years (1979-1988) in 37, tuberculosis was the underlying illness and 18 had two severe diseases. The clinico-pathological features of tuberculosis in young age are now characterized by therapeutic pathomorphism of its most forms, association with other diseases and imposition of iatrogenic complications. These factors should be taken into consideration in the pathogenetic and thanatogenetic assessment of the disease and in the final clinical and pathoanatomic diagnosis.

[Morphological variants of chronic active hepatitis with different effects from the surgical stimulation of liver regeneration].

A retrospective clinico-morphological analysis of a 10 years follow-up study of 57 patients with chronic active hepatitis of viral etiology undergoing surgical stimulation of liver regeneration revealed that the effect of this procedure was good in 29 cases, fair in 16 cases and unsatisfactory in 12 cases. It is concluded that the effect depended on the form of disorder of the intracellular regeneration of hepatocytes.

[Foreign bodies in the lungs and pleura after intrathoracic surgical interventions (clinico-anatomical parallels)].

Clinicoanatomical analysis of 6 cases of pathological processes in the lungs and pleura caused by gauze cloths left carelessly during operative treatment of pulmonary diseases was carried out. It was found that the character of these accidentally induced sufferings depended on the volume of the surgical intervention and the time during which the foreign bodies remained in the pleural cavity or the operative wound. The complications caused by the presence of gauze cloths accidentally left in the pleural cavity or lung follow a course separately from the initial pulmonary pathological process, have no pathogenetic relations to it, and possess a characteristic clinicoanatomical picture which allows them to be evaluated as surgical iatrogenesis, an equivalent of a nosological unit.

[Fascioliasis of the liver].

Clinico-morphologic characteristics of a late-stage fascioliasis in a woman, 21, living in the South Urals. The disease is diagnosed after the operative material (the 4th and 5th liver segments resected together with the gallbladder) was investigated. The importance of both damage by migrating fasciolae and the reaction of hypersensitivity in pathogenesis of the parasitic hepatitis is shown.
