Gynandroblastoma of the ovary.

A left ovarian gynandroblastoma in a 24-year-old woman was clinically manifest by prolonged (7 years) amenorrheas interrupted by metrorrhagies, with moderate hypertrichosis is presented. An important urinary elimination of estrogens (1.500 gamma/24 h) and of 17-ketosteroids (25 gamma/24 h) with normal 17-OH and gonadotrophins were evidenced. The microscopic examination of the operated tumor showed structures of a granulous tumor intermingled with arrhenoblastomatous structures. Restoration of the patient's sexual biological conditions.

Dysfunctional endometrium in primary and secondary sterility. An optic and electronmicroscopic study.

Endometria from women with primary and secondary sterility were morphologically, optically and ultrastructurally studied; such endometria were selected by clinical and paraclinical methods. In dysfunctional endometria the most important modification consists in the perturbation of the cyclical maturation process of the epitheliostromal components, perturbation which may take place "synergically" or it may be "dissociated", in disagreement with the theoretic day of the menstrual cycle. Such perturbations took place in varied circumstances: "out of phase", luteal deficit associated with hyper- or hypoestrogenemia, or pure luteal deficit, receptivity disorders, association with specific or unspecific inflammatory lesions, anovulatory cycle. Endometrium biopsy constitutes the best method for the diagnosis of endometrial dysfunctions, showing both the ovary's global hormonal function, and the qualities of the endometrial receptor, with the corrective of the corresponding technical processes and the compulsory knowledge of some clinical data.

["Minor" salmonelloses on the offensive; clinico-epidemiological aspects of Salmonella agona infections].

The incidence of "minor" salmonelloses, (one of the main infantile enteritis), has increased of late, the principal agent in 1977 and 1978 being Salmonella agona. The present paper is a clinico-epidemiological study of the characteristics of a recent episode comprising 46 cases due to Salmonella agona. Most of the cases treated in hospital had a prevalently enterocolitic aspect, without extraenteral complications, but with a reserved prognosis (10% mortality rate in the authors' experience) when associated with other diseases (bronchopneumonia, otitis, otoantritis) or when the child has a deficient constitution (congenital or acquired). It is difficult to get rid of the germ, of particular importance especially when the children return to children's institutions, by means of an etiotropic therapy, which in many cases may even delay elimination of the salmonellas. In Salmonella infections the carrier excretory state is intermittent rather than permanent. Salmonellosis caused by the agona serotype may be listed, as most of the so-called "minor" cases, in the "central" group according to the classification propossed by Newell and adopted by the World Health Organization in 1959.
