[The effect of single maximal physical loading on the emotional behavior of rats].

In experiments on 250 Wistar female rats the influence was studied of a single maximum and submaximum physical loads on the emotional behaviour and the state of conditioned activity. It has been established, that as a result of maximum possible run of the animals depression takes place of orienting investigatory activity in conditions of the "open field" and disturbance of elaboration and reproduction of the conditioned reflex of two-way avoidance. Normalization of these parameters took place in 48 hours after the maximum load action. Analogous effect was observed in the period of aftereffect of the submaximum physical load, characterized by lowering of the level of behavioural activity in the "open field", disturbance of the elaboration of two-way avoidance as a result of presumable increase of functional tonus of the brain inhibitory systems.

[Functional organization of the cortico-reticular system of the brain in response to physical loads].

An estimation was carried out by factor analysis method of informative value of alpha-like rhythm, EEG theta-rhythm, local cerebral blood filling and oxygen tension (pO2) in estimation of functional state of cerebral structures under submaximal physical loads. Experiments were carried out on 35 rabbits with electrodes chronically implanted in the sensorimotor cortex and reticular formation. The obtained values were processed by a variant of factor analysis--a method of main components. For interpretation of factor loads matrix an orthogonal turn of factor axes was carried out according to varimax criterion. It has been established that informative value of the parameters depends on the brain structure where the given parameters were defined. Dynamics of pO2 and the theta-rhythm mostly influence the changes in other parameters. The states of structures before and during the period of physical load after-effect are mostly characterized by the brain local blood filling and less by the theta-rhythm amplitude.

[Functional state of the frontal cortex and ventromedial hypothalamus during physical overexertion and experimental neurosis in the rabbit].

A change of excitability, pO2 and local cortical blood flow under a long-term maximum physical load and in conditions of experimental neurosis, was investigated in rabbits with electrodes implanted in the frontal cortex and ventromedial hypothalamus. It was found that functional activity of these structures under physical orverstrain rises as the blood flow and pO2 increase, and the excitability also increases. In experimental neurosis, a discoordination in functioning of the cortex and hypothalamus is observed. Relative stabilization of the functional state of tested structures, observed during physical overstrain, is absent in conditions of experimental neurosis.

[Formation, fixation and reproduction of temporary connections during adaptation to physical loading].

It is shown that long-term adaptation to physical loads of various intensity and duration has an influence on formation, fixation and reproduction of temporary connections in rats. Periodicity of conditioned activity has been found in the process of protracted training. After twenty days of adaptation to submaximal physical loads, the processes of fixation and reproduction of temporary connections improve whereas with elongation of adaptation the conditioned activity somewhat deteriorates. In conditions of long-term training by maximal physical loads, both elaboration and preservation of conditional reflexes in all adaptation terms is affected.

[Functional state of the hippocampo-reticular complex during submaximal physical loading and fatigue].

On 22 rabbits with bipolar electrodes chronically implanted in the dorsal hippocampus and the mid-brain reticular formation, it has been established that a submaximal physical load in non-trained animals results in a stable drop of excitability of the studied structures. In the process of a 30-day training programme the hippocampus excitability was lowered, while the reticular formation excitability after a short-term lowering increased and returned to the initial level on the 20th day of training. On the EEG of the studied structures, high-amplitude activity predominated, local blood flow increased only in the reticular formation. The nature of functional interrelations of the studied structures changed both in the non-trained animals and during training.

[Effect of intense muscular activity on the state of brain structures].

In chronic experiments on rabbits, under the action of maximal physical load ("to the utmost"), the greatest fluctuations of intensity of the local brain blood flow, excitability and pattern of bioelectrical activity in the cortical sensorimotor area, dorsal hippocampus and subcortical formations were observed the first 20 days of the experiment. The nature of intercentral relations of the cortical deep structures changed during the whole period of training. Stabilization of some functional parameters was observed at certain stages of the experiment, which is considered as adaptive reaction to physical load.

[Ecologic and epidemiologic analysis of allergies in children in Orenburg].

Results of study of relationship between the incidence of allergic diseases in children and the level of atmospheric air pollution in Orenburg are presented. Data of research in 1988-1993 has shown a trend to increase of atmospheric pollution by NO2, H2S, and formaldehyde. Allergic morbidity was 121.38 per 1000 children.

[Effects of hydrogen sulfide containing gas condensate on the hepatic microsomal monooxygenase system].

Chronic action of different xenobiotics which form a part of condensed hydrogen sulphide-containing gas causes substantial changes in the activity of xenobiotic metabolic enzymes, which is suggestive of the damaged hepatic microsomal monooxygenase system. As the rate of biotransformation becomes higher, there are increases in the activity of microsomal monooxygenases and in the generation of active oxygen forms and hydrogen peroxide, by impairing antiradical and antiperoxide mechanisms. The experimentally used concentration of substances as constituents of condensed gas corresponds to the maximum acceptable air concentration of in the working area of gas-refining plants, but the functional features of the body's detoxifying system--the hepatic monooxygenase system should be taken into account while developing preventive measures of occupational diseases.

[Characteristics of the radio-ecologic situation in the area of Totsk nuclear explosion and the immune status of schoolchildren residing in the vicinity].

Environmental pollution caused by radioactive and non-radioactive chemicals, and the immunity of schoolchildren who reside in the area exposed to the Totsk nuclear explosion (1954) are comparatively analyzed. The results indicate that the area under study has higher levels of 137Cs than that of a control area. There were immunological changes in children, which are obviously associated with the nuclear explosion.
