Invasive bladder cancer presenting with uremia is a rare phenomenon. The management of these sick patients becomes problematic since one does not know how aggressive the treatment should be and what possible outcome to expect. In this retrospective review of 117 patients with invasive bladder cancer we describe 8 patients with uremia, and discuss our management strategy and prognosis.
A rare case of invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder developing 5 years after cadaveric renal transplant is described. The technical precautions to be taken while performing a radical cystectomy in such a situation is highlighted. This patient required chemotherapy in the post-operative period, and the role of chemotherapy in the presence of immunosuppressive therapy is discussed.

The management of lymph nodes in penile cancer has always been a problem. Sentinel lymph node biopsy was supposed to solve this problem but has not been universally accepted due to conflicting results. We herein present a case of penile cancer with bilateral pathologically positive inguinal lymph nodes associated with concurrent negative sentinel lymph node biopsies. We discuss the possible reasons for this situation and suggest guidelines to study this issue.

The status of hemin, whether monomeric or aggregated, appears to be a key factor in deciding its biological activity. The molecular basis for the tendency of hemin to aggregate and the factors that regulate it are not yet fully understood. We have investigated the time profile of aggregation of hemin in aqueous solutions and the effect of temperature on the process of aggregation. Aggregation increases with increase in temperature. The time profile data, as monitored by change in absorbance at 398 nm, fits a nonlinear equation with three time constants, suggesting a possibility of three processes. Interestingly, the variation of these three time constants with temperature are different.
