[The inhibiting effect of phytoadaptogenic preparations from bioginseng, Eleutherococcus senticosus and Rhaponticum carthamoides on the development of nervous system tumors in rats induced by N-nitrosoethylurea].

The study was concerned with the inhibitory effect of officinal preparations of phytoadaptogenic drugs such as bioginseng and Eleutherococcus senticosus and Rhaponticum carthamoides root extracts on the carcinogenesis induced by transplacental administration of N-nitrosoethylurea. The phytodrugs were given orally over a year. The administration of the drugs was followed by longer survival of the rats and lower occurrence and/or multiplicity of tumors (mainly those of the central nervous system). The drugs were placed in the order of decreasing anticarcinogenic activity as follows: bioginseng, Rhaponticum carthamoides extract and Eleutherococcus senticosus extract.

Animals

[Transport ATP-ase activities in different brain structures during development of experimental neuroses in rats].

Typical alterations in activity of transport ATPases were observed in crude mitochondrial fractions isolated from various rat brain parts after chronic stressor effects. In the acute period of stress reaction activity of Na+, K+-ATPase was increased in synaptosomes of frontal cortex, hypothalamus and hippocamp. The enzymatic activity normalized after chronic action of the stressor agents. But under these conditions the activity of Mg2+-ATPase was distinctly decreased in cortex, hypothalamus and in pons Varolii.

Adenosine Triphosphatases

[Adenohypophyseal hormone and corticosteroid content in the blood and urine in light mechanical injury].

A considerably increased content of adrenocorticotropic, somatotropic and thyreo-stimulating hormones of the hypophysis in the blood serum, as well as corticosteroids in the blood and especially in the day urine was noted in 27 male patients with the first 4--8 days after light mechanical traumas not resulting in pronounced disturbances of homeostasis and having favourable outcomes. It has been shown that a simultaneous assessment of cortisole and corticosterone in the day urine is most informative among the studied forms of adrenal hormones (17-OCS, cortisole, corticosterone) in the evaluation of the functional state of the adrenal cortex and corticosteroid balance in the organism of the patients.

Adolescent

[Effect of dibazol on the state of the hypophyseal-adrenal system in patients operated on under thiopental anesthesia].

In the observations over the patients subjected to operations on the limbs under thiopental narcosis and in the experiments on white rats exposed to a shockogenic trauma (by Kennon's method) it has been found that the prophylactic injection of 1--2 mg/kg dose of dibazol rises the non-specific resistance of the body. The hormones of the pituitary-adrenal system have been found to hold an important place in the mechanism of the effect of dibazol.

11-Hydroxycorticosteroids

[The antihypoxic action of malonic acid].

Malonic acid showed a protective action on rats in acute hypoxic hypoxia. The antihypoxic effect of this compound is unassociated with its action on succinate dehydrogenase and may be mediated through the changes in hormonal metabolic regulation.

Acute Disease

[The effect of malonate on lipid biosynthesis in the liver].

Malonate regulates the liver metabolism and promotes stimulation of the fatty acids synthesis and pyruvate oxidation inhibition. The latter is particularly significant in regulation of aerobic processes and responsible for antihypoxic action of malonate.
