At the acute stage of myocardial infarction the higher functions of the brain such as fixation and reproduction of temporary connections were shown to be markedly depressed. The use of nootropil in experimental myocardial infarction was followed by the improvement of conditioned-reflex activity.
Emotional stress caused distinct alterations in calcium metabolism and hypocalcemia development was observed. At the same time, negative balance of calcium, redistribution of calcium in tissues as well as alteration of the 3; 5'-AMP content in the tissues were noted.
The authors have established the presence of phosphatidylserine decarboxylase in the sarcolemma. The capacity of this enzyme to change under the influence of adrenaline and acetylcholine has been brought to light.
Emotional-algesic stress causes essential changes in the protein metabolism of cerebral hemispheres. These changes may be of great importance for the functioning of the brain and cause the disturbances of the higher nervous activity when the organism is influenced by the emotional stress factors.
In ischemic necrosis of myocardium inhibition of energy metabolism occurred in brain, as a result of which an impairment of the brain functional state might take place. Emotional stress, preceding the myocardium necrosis, augmented the impairments of energy metabolism in brain hemispheres.

Simultaneous decrease of Ca2+, Mg2+-ATPase activity occurred in rat hypothalamus and myocardium during experimental neurosis. The decrease of the enzymatic activity was more distinct in hypothalamus than in myocardium. In hypothalamus the decreased enzymatic activity maintained within a week after completion of the excitation of the animals.

Within 2 days after ligation of the descending branch of left coronary artery activity of Na, K-dependent ATPase was inhibited in heavy synaptosomal fraction of brain hemispheres of rats. Emotional-painful stress, which developed before simulation of acute occlusion of coronary artery, prevented the enzyme inhibition.
It is established that emotional-painful stress and myocardium necrosis evoked in animals after the emotional-painful stress is accompanied by a disturbance in the creative metabolism and partial inhibition of cytochrome oxidase in cerebral hemispheres. A conclusion is made that the found changes may be one of the pathogenetic factors in formation of the neurosis-like states under stress and diseases originated from the effect of the emotional-psychic overstrain.
